Anhui Agricultural University is located in Hefei, the capital of Anhui Province. It is a university with a long history of running schools, with agricultural, forestry and life sciences as its advantages and characteristics. It is jointly built by the provincial government, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the State Forestry and Grassland Administration. It is one of the first ten universities in the country to build the "New Rural Development Research Institute", a project university of the "Basic Capacity Building Project for Colleges and Universities in Central and Western China", and a university of "local characteristics and high-level" university construction in Anhui Province. The school originated from the Provincial Anhui University established in 1928, the Agricultural College was established in 1935, and it became an independent school in 1953. It was renamed Anhui Agricultural University in 1995. It has 19 colleges (departments). There are currently 27,012 full-time ordinary students (including 149 international students), including 6,351 master and doctoral students. There are 2,106 faculty and staff, including 878 professors, associate professors and other senior professional and technical positions, and 915 doctoral and master's tutors; there are currently 4 dual-appointed academicians, 34 national talents, and 163 provincial talents. There are 4 disciplines in the top 1% of ESI, 1 national key (cultivation) discipline, 19 provincial and ministerial key disciplines, 1 selected for the Anhui Province World-Class Discipline and Domestic First-Class Discipline Award and Subsidy Fund Project, and 4 selected for the Anhui Province University Peak Discipline Construction Project. There are 5 first-level discipline postdoctoral research stations, 8 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 18 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points, 1 second-level discipline master's degree authorization point, and 11 master's degree authorization categories. There are 73 undergraduate majors, of which 33 majors are selected for the national and provincial first-class undergraduate major construction "Double 10,000 Plan", 5 national characteristic majors, and 2 national professional comprehensive reform pilot majors. There are 2 national teaching teams, 2 national quality courses, 1 national open video course, 1 national quality resource sharing course, and 3 national first-class courses. There are 1 national college practice education innovation and entrepreneurship base, 1 national off-campus practice education base, 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center, 3 national agricultural science and education cooperation talent training bases, 2 national excellent agricultural and forestry talent education and training plan reform pilot projects, 4 national new agricultural science research and reform practice projects, 2 national new liberal arts research and reform practice projects, and 1 national planning textbook. There are 1 national key laboratory, 1 national and local joint engineering laboratory, 1 international cooperation joint laboratory, 1 international science and technology cooperation base, 1 Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science and Technology "Higher Education Discipline Innovation and Intelligence Introduction Plan" base, 1 Anhui Provincial Laboratory, 61 provincial and ministerial scientific research platforms, 2 provincial "2011 Collaborative Innovation Centers", 1 provincial key think tank, 1 provincial college think tank, 1 provincial science and technology innovation think tank, 1 provincial industry common technology research institute, 1 Ministry of Education innovation team, 10 provincial "115" industry innovation teams, 7 provincial college scientific research platform innovation teams, 7 national modern agricultural industry technology system post scientists, and 8 Anhui Province modern agricultural industry technology system chief scientists. Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, the university has presided over 4 national key R&D projects, 29 research projects, and 367 national funds; it has presided over 2 second prizes for national science and technology progress, 60 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards, and 9 provincial social science awards; it has approved 165 new animal and plant varieties at or above the provincial level, and authorized 951 invention patents; it has transformed 237 scientific and technological achievements, with a contract value of 52.429 million yuan. The contract value of achievement transformation in 2022 exceeded 21.42 million yuan, and the contract value of technology export to the province was 250 million yuan. The school vigorously implements the internationalization strategy of running schools, and has established stable cooperative relations with universities and research institutes in more than 30 countries and regions. It has been approved as an "university that accepts Chinese government scholarships for international students in China", vigorously improved the quality of training and management of international students in China, and passed the "Quality Certification for Studying in China". It strives to build an international cooperation platform, and has been approved as a designated unit for foreign language training in the "South-South Cooperation" project, a national demonstration base for international science and technology cooperation, and the "Anhui Haizhi Agricultural Base" of the China Association for Science and Technology. It has been approved by the Ministry of Education to cooperate with Lakehead University in Canada to organize an undergraduate education program in forestry. The "China-US University Agricultural Extension Alliance" was jointly established with Colorado State University in the United States, building an important cooperation platform in the field of agricultural research between universities and even governments of the two countries. The school has always adhered to the school-running direction of serving the "three rural issues", and is committed to the cause of developing agriculture and Anhui through science and education. It has embarked on a nationally renowned "Dabie Mountain Road" of educating people to develop schools, enriching people and strengthening agriculture, and coordinating schools and local areas, and has made outstanding contributions to promoting the development of modern agriculture and local economic and social construction. In recent years, especially, the school has proposed and implemented the "Modern Young Farmer Training Program", explored and formed a school-county co-construction mechanism of "one station, one alliance, and one center", a new agricultural science and technology extension service model of "four-body integration", and an industrial poverty alleviation model of "schools supporting industries, industries gathering enterprises, enterprises connecting large households, and large households leading poor households", which has been fully affirmed by the leaders of the Party and the State, relevant ministries and commissions, and the Anhui Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government.
