Anhui Vocational College of Art is a provincial full-time comprehensive higher art college with a long history. Its predecessor was Anhui Art School founded in 1956. It was upgraded to Anhui Art College in 1958. From 1959 to 1963, it established a full-time undergraduate college, Anhui Art College. In 1996, it co-founded Anhui University Art College with Anhui University. In 2003, with the approval of the Anhui Provincial People's Government, Anhui Film School was merged to form Anhui Vocational College of Art. In the 67 years since its establishment, the college has shouldered the important task of inheriting and promoting excellent culture and art and cultivating art professionals. Rooted in the rich cultural soil of Anhui, it has nurtured its own school-running traditions and characteristics, and has become a base for cultivating cultural and artistic talents in Anhui. The college has two campuses on Xuancheng Road and Danxia Road, and the students on campus include undergraduate, junior college, and higher vocational education. It has 7 secondary colleges, including the Conservatory of Music, the School of Dance, the School of Drama and Media, the School of Fine Arts, the School of Comprehensive Arts, the School of Traditional Chinese Opera, and the School of Marxism (School of Humanities), offering 24 majors such as art design and music performance. The college is home to many talented people and famous teachers. Among the more than 200 teachers in service, more than 70 have senior professional titles. More than 40 well-known domestic experts and scholars such as Zhou Xiaoyan, Yu Qiuyu, Xu Changjun, and Cui Xinqin have been invited as visiting professors. In vocal music, instrumental music, dance, opera, drama, art design, film and television media and other majors, there are a group of young and middle-aged teachers with first-class provincial level, who have won many national and provincial professional competition awards and honorary titles such as "provincial teaching master" and "provincial teaching team". In the 67-year history of running schools, the college has cultivated many outstanding art talents for the society, and many of them have become professional backbones and accomplished artists of professional art groups, cultural enterprises and institutions at home and abroad in the country and the province. Among them are Li Jingxia, the first female doctor of pipa, Li Lingling, the first female master of yangqin, Sui Jingshan, the first master of suona, Xu Changjun, a famous composer and former president of Tianjin Conservatory of Music, Wu Anming, a famous national wind instrument performer, Ma Mei, Chi Liming, Zhang Yan, Wang Li, and Xie Xiaodong, a famous singer; Liu Min, former vice chairman of the China Dancers Association, Xia Xiaohu, secretary general of the China Dancers Association, Hu Huaibei, secretary of the Party Branch of the Chinese Dance Department of Beijing Dance Academy, and Fei Bo, chief choreographer of the Central Ballet; Ma Lan, Wu Qiong, Yang Jun, Yuan Mei, and Wu Yaling, the "Five Golden Flowers" of Huangmei Opera, and Huang Xinde, Li Longbin, Jiang Jianguo, Li Wen, Zhang Hui, He Yun, Wang Danhong, and Wang Yushu, winners of the Plum Blossom Award; painters Zhu Songfa, Xu Delong, Ge Xinmin, Yang Guoxin, Jiao Xiaojian, and many other well-known figures in the art world. The college adheres to the people-oriented and quality-oriented approach, unswervingly follows the path of high-quality connotation-oriented development, continuously promotes the modernization of the college's education governance capabilities, deepens the reform of education evaluation in the new era, and effectively improves the quality of talent training. It has embarked on a new path of running schools that is oriented to social needs, adapts to the development of the market economy, and has distinct school-running characteristics and artistic professional advantages. In recent years, the college has undertaken a number of national art funds, provincial and ministerial teaching and scientific research projects, and has been approved for a number of talent training projects, school-enterprise cooperation practice education bases, and teaching achievement awards, which fully demonstrate the college's professional advantages and school-running achievements. The college focuses on the cultivation of students' practical and innovative abilities, and has won excellent results in a series of major domestic art competitions such as the "Taoli Cup" Dance Competition of the Wenhua Art College Award of the Ministry of Culture, the National Vocational College Skills Competition, the China Campus Drama Festival, the "Lotus Award" National Dance Competition, the "Little Plum Blossom" Competition of Opera, the China Youth Opera Competition, the National College Digital Art Works Competition, and the National College Student Advertising Art Competition. The college has organized students to participate in the opening ceremony of the 4th National Sports Games, the China International Fair, the warm-up performance of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, the parade of floats for the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the 1st and 2nd Chinese Farmers' Song Festival, and the performance of the large-scale epic "The Great Journey" to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China; it has hosted a series of large-scale art performances such as "Campus Stage-Huifeng Wanyun Entering Colleges and Universities" sponsored by the Propaganda Department of the Anhui Provincial Party Committee, the Anhui Provincial Department of Education, and the Anhui Provincial Department of Culture, and "Propaganda and Implementation of the Spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in Colleges and Universities" sponsored by the Anhui Provincial Party Committee Education Working Committee. The college has represented the country and Anhui Province to visit France, Germany, South Korea, Ukraine, Poland and other countries and Taiwan, Hong Kong and other regions in China many times, strengthening international and cross-strait cultural exchanges. Over the past 67 years, the college has brought together the elites of Anhui's literary and artistic circles, and has accumulated a profound humanistic heritage, a strong artistic atmosphere and distinctive school characteristics.
