Anhui Vocational and Technical College is a full-time public general college directly under the Provincial Department of Education. The college was founded in 1954 and its predecessor was the "Anhui Textile Technical Training Class". In 1958, the "Anhui Textile Industry School" and the "Anhui Light Industry School" were established on the basis of the "Anhui Textile Technical Training Class". The two are "one set of institutions, two brands". In 1960, it was upgraded to "Anhui Textile Engineering College" to carry out undergraduate education. In 1999, it held higher vocational education and was one of the first batch of higher vocational colleges in Anhui Province approved by the Ministry of Education. In 2003, it was renamed Anhui Vocational and Technical College with the approval of the provincial government. In 2014, it jointly organized a "four-year consistent" applied undergraduate education with Hefei University; in 2021, it cooperated with Anhui Jianzhu University to hold a junior college to undergraduate education. In 2022, it was included in the "14th Five-Year Plan" vocational undergraduate college establishment plan of Anhui Province. The college covers an area of more than 2,000 acres and has 22,000 students. Adhering to the development orientation of "local, skill-based, characteristic, and high-level", focusing on the goal requirements of the provincial "14th Five-Year Plan" development plan on developing and strengthening strategic emerging industries, accelerating the transformation and upgrading of manufacturing, and promoting the high-quality development of the service industry, 16 secondary colleges have been optimized and set up, connecting with advanced manufacturing and modern service industries respectively. Together with relevant leading enterprises, 12 industrial colleges have been built, including BYD Benchmark Industry College, Qi'anxin Cyberspace Security Industry College, and Digital Business Industry College. Coordinate the two major articles of "bringing in" and "going out", and help build a new highland for the opening up of Anhui vocational education. It is the first vocational college in the province to establish an overseas branch (Xingzhi College-Thailand Branch), the first professional standard to be exported overseas (China-Thailand Modern Vocational Education Cooperation "210 Project"), and the first vocational college to recruit international students (Cambodia Electrical Automation Major). The college currently has 1,327 faculty and staff, including 1,131 full-time teachers and 373 teachers with associate senior titles or above; there is 1 national teaching team, 2 national teaching masters, 15 provincial teaching teams, and 19 provincial teaching masters. In recent years, teachers of the college have won 4 provincial special prizes for teaching achievements, 33 first, second and third prizes, and in 2023, the college won 2 second prizes for national teaching achievements. The college has always adhered to the teaching concept of "five-pronged education, moral and technical training", continuously improving the quality of teaching and the level of education, and has won 9 first prizes in the National Vocational College Skills Competition and 675 awards in various competitions at or above the provincial level. The college pays attention to cultivating a good style of study, educating and guiding students to "enter the workplace with craftsmanship and morality, serve the party, the country and the hometown". In recent years, the implementation rate of the college's graduates has always remained above 97%, of which the retention rate in Fei exceeds 60% and the retention rate in Anhui exceeds 80%. It has trained and supplied more than 150,000 high-level technical and skilled talents to the society. The college upholds the school motto of “unity, endeavor, rigor and truth-seeking”, thoroughly studies and implements the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, comprehensively implements the party’s education policy and General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions and instructions on vocational education, vigorously implements the “1133” development strategy, adheres to the integration of production and education, and the integration of science and education, actively serves the construction of “three places and one district” and the goal of “seven strong provinces”, and strives unremittingly to build a high-level vocational and technical university as soon as possible.
