Anshan Normal University is a full-time general undergraduate normal college located in Anshan City, Liaoning Province, an excellent tourist city and a national civilized city with the world's first jade Buddha, Asia's famous hot springs, the national scenic spot Qianshan, the hometown of Chinese gems and the capital of steel in the motherland. The school was founded in 1958, upgraded to an undergraduate in 1993, passed the undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation of the Ministry of Education in 2004, and was approved as a Chinese government scholarship to receive international students in China in 2013. In 2019, it accepted the review and evaluation of undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education, and was approved as a master's degree awarding institution in 2021. In the course of more than 60 years of running schools, the school has adhered to the school motto of "liberal arts and excellence, unity of knowledge and practice", adhered to the school philosophy of "people-oriented, quality-based, and serving the society", adhered to the school orientation of "normal, local, and application-oriented", and unswervingly followed the connotative development path with quality improvement as the core, forming a fine school-running tradition, and has trained more than 100,000 outstanding graduates for the country's basic education, economic construction, and social development, all over the country. The school covers an area of more than 750,000 square meters, and the school building area is 353,700 square meters. There are 1 department, 17 colleges (departments), and 1 affiliated middle school. The fixed assets are nearly 430 million yuan, of which the teaching and scientific research equipment is worth 123 million yuan. The library has a collection of 1.176 million books. The school currently has 1,159 faculty and staff, including 879 full-time teachers. Two people were selected into the "Hundred Talents Level" of Liaoning Province's Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talents Project, one young top talent of the province's "Xingliao Talents", three local leading talents of the city, two experts with outstanding contributions to the city, one outstanding expert of the city, and 99 high-end talents of the city. There are 4 provincial teaching teams, 7 provincial professional leaders, 10 provincial teaching masters, and 5 provincial outstanding teachers. The school currently has 1 professional master's degree authorization point (Master of Education), 11 enrollment fields, 38 full-time undergraduate enrollment majors, and 11 higher vocational college enrollment majors, covering 8 disciplines of education, literature, science, art, management, engineering, law, and history. There are 29 provinces for undergraduate and junior college students. The total number of students of all types is 23,350, including 178 master's students in education, 11,165 ordinary undergraduate students, and 3,470 ordinary junior college students. A school-running pattern of coordinated development of graduate education, undergraduate education, vocational education, adult education, and international student education has been formed. The school currently has 6 provincial first-class undergraduate education demonstration majors, 1 provincial demonstration major, 4 provincial transformation and development pilot majors, 2 provincial application-oriented transformation demonstration majors, 1 provincial innovation and entrepreneurship reform pilot major, and 1 provincial modern apprenticeship demonstration major. 52 provincial teaching achievement awards, 2 key construction courses of the Ministry of Education’s Teaching Committee, 1 national first-class course, 76 provincial first-class undergraduate courses, 19 provincial quality courses, 12 national planning textbooks, 14 provincial excellent textbooks, and 7 provincial off-campus practical education bases for college students. In the past five years, 12 education and teaching reform research projects of the Ministry of Education, 66 provincial teaching research projects of various types, 2 provincial virtual teaching and research room pilot construction pilots, and 3 provincial modern industrial colleges have been approved. Our school has been approved as a construction unit of the National Federation of Industry and Commerce’s industry-education integration demonstration training base and the second batch of innovation and entrepreneurship education practice bases in Liaoning Province. The school currently has 8 high-level provincial scientific research platform bases (Liaoning Key Laboratory of Natural Product Active Molecules Development and Utilization, Anshan Normal University Research Center for the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, Industrial Cultural Heritage Protection Research Base, Anshan Normal University Liren Hall, Liaoning Characteristic Cultural Resources Development and Utilization Research Base, Liaoning New Think Tank Alliance, Liaoning County Basic Education Quality Balanced Development Research Base and Liaoning Industrial Culture Theory and Development Research Base). In the past five years, it has undertaken 247 national and provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, published more than 590 papers in core journals, authorized 53 patents, and many teachers have won the Liaoning Philosophy and Social Sciences Achievement Award and the Liaoning Natural Science Academic Achievement Award. In 2023, the funds for horizontal projects and scientific and technological achievements transformation will reach 1.1 million yuan. The school sponsored the Journal of Anshan Normal University and distributed it nationwide. The school adheres to the "one body and two wings" discipline and professional structure layout, and unswervingly regards teacher education as a basic project to achieve the school's goals, enhance the reputation of the school and core competitiveness. In particular, the preschool education major has become an important talent training base for kindergarten teachers in Liaoning Province. The number of students participating in scientific research projects, publicly publishing papers, and winning various science and technology competitions has increased year by year, the number and level of awards in student innovation and entrepreneurship competitions have continued to rise, the rate of postgraduate entrance examinations has increased year by year, and the rate of graduates' destinations has remained at a high level. The school fully utilizes the advantages of humanities and arts disciplines to help regional urban cultural construction. Relying on the Liu Lanfang Art Research Center, the National Studies Center, and the Liren Art Museum, the school conducts research, compilation, and dissemination of regional characteristic cultures such as Qianshan culture, northern ceramics, Anshan storytelling inheritance, industrial heritage, and Anshan local history. The school has designed a system for industrial cultural heritage resources such as Anshan mines, pits, and abandoned blast furnaces, helping Anshan Iron and Steel apply for the eighth batch of national cultural relics protection units. The school plans new actions in the overall national opening-up situation and strives to promote the internationalization of the school. As a "Chinese government scholarship receiving institution for international students" and a "International Chinese Teacher Scholarship Receiving Institution", the school has trained more than 4,000 long-term and short-term international students from 46 countries. The school has established long-term and stable inter-school exchange and cooperation relations with 119 overseas universities and 27 educational and scientific research institutions in 27 countries and regions.
