Beihai Vocational College is located in Beihai, an important port of departure for the ancient "Maritime Silk Road" and a beautiful coastal city. It is a public higher vocational college run by the Beihai Municipal People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It was established on August 8, 2003 with the approval of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region People's Government and the filing of the Ministry of Education. The predecessor of the school was Beihai Normal School, which was founded in January 1977 and has a 46-year history of education. The school has excellent conditions for running schools. It has successively integrated Beihai Technical School and Beihai Radio and Television University. It currently has four campuses: the main campus, the North Campus, the Industrial Park Campus, and the East Campus. It has 9 secondary colleges including the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Electronic Information Engineering, the School of Tourism and Commerce, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Culture and Media, the School of Education and Health Care, the School of General Education, the School of Marxism, and the School of Continuing Education, as well as 1 affiliated experimental kindergarten. It has 53 majors including port machinery and intelligent control, hotel management and digital operations, applied electronic technology, modern logistics management, advertising art design, and preschool education. There are 296 on-campus experimental training rooms and 290 contracted off-campus training bases. The school has more than 18,000 students, 912 faculty and staff, and 727 full-time teachers, including 286 doctors and masters, 285 dual-qualified teachers, and 191 associate senior titles or above. At present, the construction of the new campus project covering an area of 1,200 acres is being pushed forward. After the completion of the new campus, the school's conditions for running schools will be more superior and its school-running capacity will be further improved. The school has 2 majors in the central government-supported higher vocational school professional service industry development capacity construction project, 1 autonomous region advantage specialty, 5 Guangxi vocational education demonstration specialty and training bases, 2 autonomous region demonstration training bases, 1 Guangxi vocational education professional development research base, 2 autonomous region vocational education demonstration virtual simulation training bases, 1 autonomous region vocational education professional teaching resource library project construction project, 20 national "1+X" certificate system pilots, and has won 1 first-class and 2 second-class teaching achievements at the autonomous region level. It has built 1 autonomous region-level boutique course and is a pilot unit for the autonomous region's modern apprenticeship system.
