Beijing Police College is a full-time undergraduate general college approved by the Ministry of Education, sponsored by the Beijing Municipal People's Government, with the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau as the administrative supervisor and the Beijing Municipal Education Commission as the educational supervisor. It is the training base for applied police talents in the capital, the public security theory and practice research base, and the training base for on-the-job police officers in the capital. It is also the training base for special car drivers of the State Administration of Institutions, the training base for foreign police officers of the Ministry of Public Security, and the training base for police driving. The college is an important part of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau. It was established in January 1984. Its predecessor was the Public Security School of the Public Security Bureau of the Beiping Municipal People's Government, which was established in April 1949. In 2004, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it began to prepare for the establishment of higher undergraduate education in public security and recruit undergraduate students. In 2006, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Beijing Police College was established on the basis of Beijing People's Police College to carry out full-time higher undergraduate education and on-the-job police training. In 2015, the college obtained the right to confer bachelor's degrees. The college is based on law and engineering, and has 9 undergraduate majors. Currently, there are 7 majors for enrollment, including investigation, public security, criminal science and technology, public security management, foreign-related police, traffic management engineering and network security and law enforcement, focusing on two first-level disciplines: public security and public security technology. The major of network security and law enforcement was rated as "the first-class major of Beijing's colleges and universities", the major of public security was listed as the national key major (cultivation point) of public security higher education by the Ministry of Public Security, and the course of "special driving technology of police vehicles" was listed as a national quality course. The college is located in Huyu Scenic Area, Nankou Town, Changping District, covering an area of 758,800 square meters and a building area of more than 190,000 square meters. The college has complete teaching equipment and modern teaching methods, which can realize situational teaching, simulation teaching and distance teaching. Laboratories such as DNA testing, intelligence analysis, trace comparison, and criminal photography are in a leading position among domestic public security colleges; the physical fitness, skills, and police technical and tactical training venues are unique; the library has a complete collection of books, which is convenient and fast to consult, and can directly serve teaching, scientific research and police combat. The college has a beautiful environment, fresh air and complete facilities, providing teachers and students with good learning, working and living conditions. The college adheres to the general requirements of "loyalty to the party, serving the people, fair law enforcement and strict discipline", and aims to build a "domestic first-class and international level" police college, and strives to build a national key public security college with distinctive characteristics and in line with actual combat needs. Adhere to the school-running purpose of cultivating public security professionals for the capital's public security cause, providing intellectual support services for the development of the capital's public security work, and serving the capital's public security major security tasks; take serving the capital's public security work as the goal, and actively promote quality education; adhere to the principle of giving equal importance to ordinary public security higher education and on-the-job police training, based on the innovation and development of the capital's public security police work, adhere to the integrated talent training model of teaching, training, combat, and research, and cultivate high-quality application-oriented police talents with loyal police spirit, strict discipline, strong police ability, and comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor in accordance with the actual combat orientation. The college has carried out friendly exchanges and academic exchanges with police agencies in many countries in the world. With the improvement of the school-running level and the development of scientific research activities, especially the strategic positioning of the capital Beijing development strategy in the "four centers", the scale of the college's foreign exchanges and academic exchanges has continued to expand. Since its establishment, the school has undergone several changes, but has always adhered to the policy of political construction and strict management. The faculty and staff have worked hard to cultivate batches of public security professionals. It has cultivated and sent more than 50,000 graduates to public security organs at all levels and trained more than 310,000 on-duty police officers. A group of heroes, models, experts in the field and outstanding leading cadres have emerged, making historic contributions to the inheritance and development of the capital's public security cause, and is known as the "Cradle of the Capital's People's Police."
