Beijing Union University was established in 1985 with the approval of the Ministry of Education. Its predecessor was 36 university branches founded by Beijing in 1978 with the support of Peking University and Tsinghua University. Over the past 40 years since its establishment, the university has continuously promoted its connotation-oriented development and has become a high-level applied university in Beijing with coordinated development of undergraduate education, graduate education, continuing education and international student education. It is also the largest comprehensive university in Beijing. The main campus of the university is located at No. 97 North Fourth Ring East Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing, and there are 11 branch campuses located in the core area of Beijing. The university has 14 colleges, including the College of Applied Arts and Sciences, the Normal College, the College of Business, the College of Biochemical Engineering, the College of Tourism, the College of Continuing Education, the College of Smart Cities, the College of Robotics, the College of Urban Rail Transit and Logistics, the College of Management, the College of Special Education, the College of Art, the College of Applied Science and Technology, and the College of Marxism. The university currently has 63 undergraduate majors, covering 11 major disciplines, including economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, medicine, management, art, and interdisciplinary disciplines. 12 undergraduate majors have been approved as national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 22 undergraduate majors have been approved as Beijing first-class undergraduate major construction sites, and nearly 20 undergraduate majors are among the top 20% in the country (Wuhan University RCCSE). The school has two high-tech disciplines in Beijing: Beijing Studies and Business Administration. It has 10 first-level master's degree-granting disciplines: political science, Marxist theory, archaeology, Chinese history, geography, computer science and technology, food science and engineering, software engineering, business administration, and design. It has 16 master's degree-granting categories: finance, international business, law, education, journalism and communication, museums, electronic information, civil engineering and water conservancy, transportation, traditional Chinese medicine, accounting, tourism management, library information, drama and film, design, and cultural relics. Among them, the field of vocational and technical education is a pilot field for the master's degree in education, and the master's degree in traditional Chinese medicine for visually impaired students fills the gap in domestic higher special education.
