Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications is a general institution of higher learning that trains professionals in cryptography, confidentiality and information security for party and government agencies at all levels across the country. The college is affiliated to the General Office of the CPC Central Committee. The college was founded in August 1947 and was formerly the Central Working Committee Youth Cadre Training Class. Over the past 70 years, it has gone through the development periods of Zhangjiakou Military Commission Engineering School, Beijing Electronic College, and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. In 2003, the college and Xidian University jointly carried out academic master's degree education. In 2011, the college independently carried out a pilot project for the training of professional master's degree students. In 2017, the college obtained the right to award master's degrees. In 2018, the college jointly carried out doctoral education with the University of Science and Technology of China and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. The college is located at No. 7 Fufeng Road, Fengtai District, Beijing, and currently has more than 2,000 full-time students. Since its establishment, the college has always received the cordial care and high attention of the leaders of the Party Central Committee and the General Office of the Central Committee. Comrades Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin, Hu Jintao, and Xi Jinping have successively written inscriptions to encourage or made important instructions on the work of the college. Comrade Jiang Zemin also wrote the name of the college. Central leaders such as Qiao Shi, Wen Jiabao, Zeng Qinghong, Wang Gang, Li Zhanshu, and Ding Xuexiang have made many important instructions for the construction and development of the college and visited the college many times. The college always bears in mind the trust of the party, fully implements the party's education policy, firmly grasps the correct direction of running the school, adheres to the school motto of "loyalty, diligence, rigor, and discipline", insists on establishing the college with politics, strengthening the college with characteristics, developing the college with talents, and governing the college according to regulations, and strives to cultivate qualified talents with political loyalty, solid academic performance, rigorous style, and strict discipline, and strives to build a well-known domestic university that is "specialized, specialized, refined, and excellent". After more than 70 years of construction, the college has gradually developed into a teaching-oriented general college with engineering as the main focus and coordinated development of science, engineering, and management. The college currently has 4 departments and 2 teaching departments: Department of Cryptography Science and Technology, Department of Cyberspace Security, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Department of Management, Department of Ideological and Political Theory Teaching and Research, and Department of Humanities and Social Sciences Teaching and Research. It has 8 undergraduate majors: Information Security, Cryptography Science and Technology, Electronic Information Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, Communication Engineering, Cyberspace Security, Confidentiality Management, and Administrative Management. The college currently has 1 first-level discipline doctoral authorization point for cyberspace security and 3 master's degree authorization points: Cyberspace Security, Electronic Information, and Public Administration (MPA). Among them, the electronic information professional degree authorization point includes three fields: new generation electronic information technology (including quantum technology, etc.), communication engineering (including broadband network, mobile communication, etc.), and computer technology. At the same time, it jointly trains academic doctoral students in cyberspace security with the University of Science and Technology of China and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and continues to jointly train masters in information and communication engineering and computer science and technology with Xidian University. The proportion of full-time teachers in the college with master's and doctoral degrees reached 87.9%, and the proportion with associate senior titles or above reached 55.3%. 22 teachers have enjoyed special allowances from the State Council, and many teachers have won the titles of "Beijing Famous Teacher", "Beijing Excellent Teacher" and "Beijing Young Backbone Teacher". Over the past 70 years since its establishment, the college has trained and supplied a large number of high-quality talents for the Party and the country, and a number of advanced model figures at the provincial and ministerial levels or above have emerged among its alumni.
