Beijing Vocational College of Economics and Management (Beijing Institute of Management) is a public full-time general higher vocational college approved by the Beijing Municipal People's Government, registered by the Ministry of Education, and supervised by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission. In February 2024, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, Tianjin Municipal Education Commission, and Hebei Provincial Department of Education decided to establish the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Vocational Education Reform Demonstration Park based on the Gu'an campus of the school. In accordance with the concept of "reform first, aggregation and innovation, and coordinated development", a central-local interaction and regional linkage collaborative platform will be constructed. By aggregating the production and education resource elements of the three regions of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, and laying out the undergraduate majors of vocational education in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, the "three-in-one" integrated development of education, technology, and talents will be promoted. The coordinated development strategy of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei will be promoted to a higher level through collaborative innovation in education, and more high-quality technical and skilled talents, skilled craftsmen, and great country craftsmen will be cultivated. The history of the school can be traced back to the Beijing Municipal Economic Commission Staff Education Teacher Training School established in 1979, which was renamed Beijing Economic Management Cadre College in 1984. In 2003, Hebei Yuandong Vocational and Technical College (formerly North China Petroleum Staff University) was transferred and merged into Beijing Economic Management Cadre College. In the same year, the former State Economic and Trade Commission established Beijing Manager College at Beijing Economic Management Cadre College. In 2006, the school was transformed into a general college and renamed Beijing Economic Management Vocational College. In October 2012, the school's affiliation was transferred from the Municipal State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission to the Municipal Education Commission. The school currently has two campuses in Beijing Wangjing and Gu'an, Hebei, with a total area of 1,287 acres and nearly 4,000 students. There are 8 secondary colleges and teaching institutions including Linkong Economic Management College, Digital Finance College, Artificial Intelligence College, Foreign Languages and Preschool Education College, Jewelry and Art Design College, Basic Education College, Marxism College, and Training College. The school is a pilot unit of the modern apprenticeship system of the Ministry of Education, the host unit of the national vocational education professional teaching resource library, and the construction unit of Beijing's characteristic high-level backbone majors. It has been selected as one of the "Top 50 Internationally Influential" and "Top 50 Industry-Education Integration" of national higher vocational colleges, one of the top 100 typical cases of employment and entrepreneurship of graduates from ordinary colleges and universities in the country, the first batch of experimental schools of "Vocational Colleges Serving National Learning" of the China Adult Education Association, and a national vocational college traditional skills inheritance demonstration base. The school currently has 482 faculty and staff, including 278 full-time teachers, 244 with master's and doctoral degrees, accounting for 87.8%, and 129 teachers with senior professional and technical positions, accounting for 46.4%. Seven engineering colleges and master studios, including Siemens Engineering College and Xiao Yongliang Digital Visual Effects Master Studio, are high-level construction training bases of Beijing vocational colleges.
