Beijing Youth University of Political Science is a general higher education institution under the jurisdiction of Beijing. It was established in 1986 on the basis of the original Beijing Youth League School. Comrade Deng Xiaoping personally wrote the name of the college. In 2022, the college was separated from the Beijing Youth League School and became a full-time general higher education institution directly managed by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission. All teachers and students of the college uphold the school motto of "diligent learning, good thinking, moral practice", take "politics, youth, and humanities" as the school-running characteristics, adhere to the school-running philosophy of "leading the direction of running schools with political direction, serving youth development with youth needs, and cultivating students' literacy with humanistic background", focusing on the "four centers" function of the capital and the construction of "two districts", creating government affairs and social services, cultural and people's livelihood services, legal and business services, foreign affairs and tourism services, education and youth services and other professional directions, forming a group of advantageous majors of "one old, one young, one young, one literature and one skill internationalization", and cultivating "politically reliable, reassuring, skilled, and cooperative" compound high-quality technical and skilled talents. The college currently has six secondary colleges, a humanities quality education center, and a continuing education college. The college has distinctive professional characteristics. In order to meet the needs of the capital's industries, it strives to create professional groups such as youth work, integrated childcare, integrated media technology, smart health care, and international cultural tourism. There will be 20 majors for enrollment in 2024. The majors of preschool education, tourism English, and integrated media technology are high-level key majors (groups) with characteristics of municipal vocational colleges. The major of smart elderly care services and management is a national demonstration major for vocational colleges. The major of preschool education is a national key major. The major of tourism English (entry and exit services and management) ranks first in the 2023 evaluation of higher vocational colleges released by GDI. It was the first among all higher vocational colleges in the country to apply for the government service major, creating the "Beijing model" of professional and professional training of government service and grassroots governance talents. In the "Jinpingguo" 2024 China Higher Vocational College Competitiveness Ranking, the college ranked second in language colleges. It took the lead in establishing the "Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Integrated Nursery Industry-Education Integration Community", "International Cultural Tourism Service Industry-Education Integration Community", and "National Nursery Industry Industry-Education Integration Community", and established the International Cultural Tourism Service Trade Industry College, the International Vocational Skills Industry College, the Beijing Preschool Education Vocational Education Group, and the Government Service and Grassroots Governance Industry College. The college has strong organizational scientific research strength. It has three municipal research institutes: Beijing Youth Research Institute, Beijing Oriental Morality Research Institute, and Beijing Vocational Education and Humanities Beijing Research Center. In 2013, the Beijing Youth Education and Development Research Base was approved as a Beijing Philosophy and Social Sciences Research Base. The college hosts the Beijing Youth Research magazine.
