Bijie Vocational and Technical College was established in February 2008. Its history can be traced back to Bijie Agricultural School founded in 1956. In 2015, the school added the sign of Bijie No. 1 Technical School. It is the only comprehensive public general higher vocational college in Bijie City that is "co-built by the province and the city, with the city as the main body". It is a construction unit of the "Double High Plan" in Guizhou Province. More than 60 years of school-running road, hard work, and success. The school has always adhered to the school-running direction of facing the market, serving development, and promoting employment. Adhering to the development idea of "based in Bijie and improving connotation", with the hard work of all faculty and staff of the school, it has developed from a small-scale, weak-founded secondary vocational school to a comprehensive local higher vocational college with a moderate scale and a certain influence in and outside the province, forming a school-running pattern with higher vocational education as the main body. In the process of running the school, the school focuses on improving the level of scientific research and social service capabilities, continuously strengthening social training and vocational skill level certification, and gradually forming unique school-running characteristics and development advantages. The school now covers an area of 780 acres and is located in the Vocational Education City of Jinhai Lake New District, Bijie City. The campus environment is beautiful and the transportation location is obvious. It is adjacent to the airport, high-speed railway station and highway exit. The total construction area of the campus is about 332,600 square meters. It has 87 on-campus experimental training rooms (centers), 83 off-campus internship or employment bases, and teaching equipment with a total value of 100 million yuan. The library has a collection of more than 730,000 books and more than 10,000 full-time students. It has departments of electronic information engineering, industrial and mining construction, agricultural engineering, finance and economics, tourism management, education science, and medicine. The school has 10 teaching departments, including the Nursing Department, the Basic Education Department, the Ideological and Political Theory Teaching and Research Department, and the Continuing Education and Training Department. It currently has 29 enrolling majors, focusing on the construction of two high-level professional groups, such as Northwest Guizhou's characteristic agriculture and intelligent construction, and strives to create two characteristic backbone professional groups, such as rural e-commerce and tourism management, and one emerging professional group with social service characteristics. There are 560 full-time teachers, including 114 senior professional titles, 134 intermediate professional titles, 110 teachers with master's degrees, 4 famous vocational education teachers in Guizhou Province, and 1 outstanding principal award at the 5th Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Award. In recent years, the school has seized the opportunity of cooperation between the east and the west, strengthened its connection with relevant departments, enterprises, schools, and organizations such as the Federation of Trade Unions, the Communist Youth League, and the Women's Federation in Guangdong Province, especially Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and implemented in-depth inter-school cooperation, school-enterprise cooperation, and school-government cooperation to promote resource complementarity between the two sides, and jointly build and share educational resources.
