Central South University of Forestry and Science and Technology is a university jointly established by the Hunan Provincial People's Government and the State Forestry and Grassland Administration. It is a university in the national "Basic Capacity Building Project of Central and Western Universities" and a university in Hunan Province's "Domestic First-Class Universities". The school is located in Changsha, a famous historical and cultural city in China, adjacent to the provincial government. It has an elegant environment and convenient transportation. The campus covers an area of 1,388 acres. It has an experimental forest farm covering an area of more than 70,000 acres (Hunan Beiluoxiao National Forest Park), and various public services on campus. With complete facilities, it is an ideal place for studying and studying. One of the school’s predecessors was Hunan Forestry College established in Changsha in 1958. In 1963, under the kind care of Comrade Tao Zhu, an older generation of proletarian revolutionaries, Hunan Forestry College moved to Guangzhou and merged with the Forestry Department of South China Agricultural College (now South China Agricultural University) to form Central South Forestry College. Comrade Tao Zhu personally determined the site for the school, drew a blueprint, and inscribed the name of the school. In 1970, Central South Forestry College and South China Agricultural College merged to form Guangdong Agricultural and Forestry College. In 1974, the school moved from Guangzhou to Xupu County, Hunan Province and was renamed Hunan Forestry College; in 1975, the school officially opened in Xupu. In 1978, the school resumed its name as Central South Forestry University and was directly under the management of the former National Forestry Department. In 1983, the entire school moved to Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province. In 2000, the former Hunan Forestry School and Hunan Forestry Technical School were merged into Central South Forestry College, and the school was jointly built by Hunan Province and the former National Forestry Department. In 2003, the Hunan Agricultural Machinery Research Institute was merged into the Central South Forestry University, and the main body of the school moved to Changsha, achieving a historic return. In 2005, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was renamed Central South University of Forestry and Technology. In 2006, the school merged with the original Hunan Economic and Management Cadre College to form the new Central South University of Forestry and Technology.
