Central University of Finance and Economics is a university directly under the Ministry of Education, jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance and the Beijing Municipal People's Government. It is a national "Double First-Class" construction, "211 Project" construction and the first batch of "Superior Discipline Innovation Platform" project construction universities. The school was founded on November 6, 1949. At the beginning of its establishment, it was under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Finance. It has gone through the development stages of Central Taxation School, Central Finance College, Central University of Finance and Economics, and Central Finance and Banking College. In 1996, it was renamed Central University of Finance and Economics. In 2000, it was transferred from the Ministry of Finance to the direct management of the Ministry of Education. In 2005, it became a key construction university of the national "211 Project". In 2006, it became the first batch of national "Superior Discipline Innovation Platform" project construction universities. In 2012, it became a university jointly built by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance and the Beijing Municipal People's Government. In 2017, it became a national "Double First-Class" construction university. For a long time, the school has adhered to the school motto of "loyalty, unity, truth-seeking and innovation", inherited the school-running philosophy of "seeking truth and pursuing excellence", adhered to the mission of "establishing morality, cultivating talents, and serving the country through finance and economics", and established a discipline system with economics, management and law as the main disciplines, and literature, science, engineering, education, art and other multi-disciplinary coordinated development, forming a distinctive school-running feature, and cultivating more than 160,000 high-quality talents of all levels and types for the country's economic construction and social development. It is known as the "cradle of Chinese financial management experts". As of the end of December 2022, the school has 1,769 faculty and staff, including 1,098 full-time teachers, 379 professors, 492 associate professors, and 973 people with doctoral degrees. The school currently has 10,177 undergraduates, 5,663 master's students, 882 doctoral students, 611 foreign students, and 3,007 adult education students. The school has 53 undergraduate majors, 48 of which are selected as national and Beijing first-class undergraduate major construction sites, and 3 first-class majors are selected as key construction sites in Beijing; 15 courses are selected as the first batch of national first-class undergraduate courses, 8 courses are approved as Beijing colleges and universities' high-quality undergraduate courses, and 6 courses are selected as national high-quality online open courses; 5 courses have won the first national textbook construction award and 12 high-quality undergraduate textbooks of Beijing colleges and universities. It was selected as the first batch of national basic disciplines top-notch student training program 2.0 bases; selected as the national excellent legal talent education and training program, and approved as an applied and compound legal professional talent education and training base and a foreign-related legal talent education and training base. It was approved as the "High-level International Talent Training Innovation and Practice Project" and became the first batch of high-level international talent innovation training base units of the Ministry of Education; co-established the "Xu Guozhi Big Data Talent Class" with the Chinese Academy of Sciences; carried out the "Finance + English" joint bachelor's degree training with Beijing Foreign Studies University, and implemented the "Statistics-Finance Double Bachelor's Degree Compound Talent Training Project" to cultivate interdisciplinary compound talents from a high starting point. The school has a national "double first-class" construction discipline of applied economics, and applied economics was rated A+ in the fourth round of national discipline evaluation; it has a first-level discipline of applied economics and a second-level discipline of accounting, which are national key disciplines; it has first-level disciplines of business administration and statistics, second-level disciplines of political economy, research on the sinicization of Marxism, world economy, and cross-disciplinary disciplines of economic information management and multinational company management, which are key disciplines in Beijing; it has "high-tech" disciplines of Beijing universities such as financial security engineering, strategic economy and military-civilian integration; it has 5 first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degrees, 16 first-level disciplines authorized for master's degrees, and 20 categories authorized for master's professional degrees; the secretariat of the National Insurance and Asset Appraisal Professional Degree Graduate Education Steering Committee is located in our school; it has 5 postdoctoral research mobile stations. For a long time, the school has attached great importance to the construction of the faculty. Among the older generation of teachers, famous economists and scholars such as Chen Daisun, Cui Jingbo, Cui Shuxiang, Li Baoguang, Liu Guangdi, Hu Zhongliu, Li Tianmin, Zhang Yuwen, Wen Qian, Jiang Weizhuang, Wei Zhenxiong, Wang Peizhen, Hou Ronghua, and Li Jixiong have taught at the school. 27 people in the school have been selected for major national talent projects. In addition, the school has 5 "National Candidates of the New Century Hundred Thousand Talents Project", 1 winner of the National Excellent Young Scientist Fund, 3 National Teaching Masters, 33 experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, 2 Teaching Masters of the Ministry of Education's Course Ideological and Political Demonstration Project, 1 Outstanding Young Scientist of Beijing Universities, 4 "Beijing Teachers' Ethics Pioneers", 28 winners of the Beijing "Higher Education Teaching Master" Award, members of the Ministry of Education's Social Science Committee, and "New Century Excellent Talents" of the Ministry of Education. The school has 5 national teaching teams, 7 Beijing Excellent Teaching Teams and 3 Beijing University Excellent Undergraduate Education Teams, of which 2 teams were selected as "National University Huang Danian Teacher Team". In recent years, the school has also focused on introducing a large number of overseas talents on a global platform basis, and has hired a number of famous scholars at home and abroad as college leaders and academic leaders. For example, Nobel Prize winners in Economics Lawrence Klein, Joseph Stiglitz, Robert Engel, Eric Maskin, Roger Myerson, etc. serve as academic committee members, honorary professors, visiting professors and part-time professors of the school. The school gives full play to the role of "think tank" and "brain trust" for the decision-making of national ministries and local governments, and provides a strong theoretical guarantee and powerful intellectual support for the national economic construction and social development. It has think tanks such as the National Financial Security Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education, the China Actuarial Research Institute, the Beijing Philosophy and Social Sciences Research Base, the Beijing Finance Research Base and the Capital Internet Economic Development Research Base, the Beijing University Socialist Theory Research Collaborative Innovation Center and the China Financial Development Collaborative Innovation Center. Since 2016, the school has undertaken 23 major projects of the National Social Science Fund, 2 national key research and development plan projects; 182 National Social Science Fund projects, 260 National Natural Science Fund projects, and 104 humanities and social science research projects of the Ministry of Education. The various forums and high-level international seminars held by the school have had a huge impact at home and abroad. The school continues to improve its internationalization level and has established cooperative relations with more than 190 units including world-renowned universities, international organizations and multinational companies. Actively promote the internationalization of talent training, and 10 degree programs have been certified by well-known international organizations such as AMBA and the Institute of Actuaries. The Sino-foreign cooperative education projects have achieved full coverage at the undergraduate, master and doctoral levels. The school has been approved by the Ministry of Education's Sino-Foreign Cultural Exchange Center for the "High-level International Talent Training Innovation and Practice Project". Since undertaking the national foreign aid project, it has trained more than 2,000 senior government officials from nearly 100 developing countries. Standing at the historical intersection of the "two centenary goals", the school has determined the school's development strategic goal based on the needs of national economic and social development and the development trends of higher education at home and abroad, combined with its own development advantages, and after scientific demonstration: to build Central University of Finance and Economics into a world-class university with distinctive characteristics.
