Changchun Institute of Technology is a provincial general undergraduate university with engineering as its main discipline, coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as management, science, art, and literature, and a profound background in basic industrial industries such as architecture, water conservancy, electricity, and geology, as well as distinctive school-running characteristics. From 1951 to 1953, Changchun Civil Engineering and Architecture Vocational School, Changchun Surveying and Geological Technology School and Changchun Hydropower Engineering School were established successively. In the 1960s, Changchun Hydropower Engineering School was upgraded and renamed Jilin Water Resources and Hydropower College to offer undergraduate education.
