Changchun University is located in Changchun, Jilin Province, which is known as the "Spring City of the North". It is a provincial comprehensive university with profound cultural heritage and distinctive characteristics. The predecessor of the school was the Changchun Industrial Accounting and Statistics School founded by the former Ministry of Industry of the Northeast People's Government in 1949, which trained the first batch of industrial accounting and statistics talents for New China. In sync with the development of the country and the changes of the times, the school changed its name several times and was renamed Jilin Mechanical and Electrical College in 1983. In 1987, with the approval of the former State Education Commission, the former Jilin University of Science and Technology, Jilin Mechanical and Electrical College, Changchun Foreign Language College, and Changchun Vocational University merged to form Changchun University. In 2000, the former Jilin Forestry School was incorporated. The university currently has three campuses, covering a total area of 1.02 million square meters, with 20 teaching colleges, 54 undergraduate majors, 8 first-level master's academic degree authorization points, 14 master's professional degree authorization points, and a doctoral degree authorization unit in Jilin Province. Mechanical engineering, food science and engineering, and materials and chemical engineering are doctoral degree project construction and cultivation disciplines. The majors cover ten major disciplines: economics, law, education, literature, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management, and art. There are currently 2 national specialty majors and 8 provincial specialty majors; 5 national first-class professional construction points and 15 provincial first-class professional construction points; 1 national talent training model innovation experimental zone. Based on the actual industrial structure of Northeast China and Jilin Province, the university has built two national scientific research platforms, namely the National Soybean Deep Processing Technology Research and Promotion Center and the Jilin Branch of the National Soybean Engineering Technology Research Center. There are 19 provincial and ministerial scientific research platforms, including the Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Intelligent Rehabilitation and Accessibility for People with Disabilities and the Jilin Provincial Key Laboratory of Human Health Status Identification and Function Enhancement. The school currently has 19,497 full-time students, including 1,310 full-time graduate students. There are 1,366 faculty members, including 122 teachers with senior professional titles, 304 teachers with associate senior professional titles, 291 teachers with doctoral degrees, and 426 teachers with master's degrees. The school has more than 50 high-level talents of various types, including senior experts directly in contact with the central government, experts with outstanding contributions to the country, recipients of special allowances from the State Council, new century talents of the Ministry of Education, national technical experts, provincial senior experts, provincial top innovative talents, provincial experts with outstanding contributions, provincial teaching masters, Changbai Mountain scholars, and Changbai Mountain skilled masters. The school has been listed in the "TOP300 Evaluation Results of Innovative Talent Training and Discipline Competitions in National Ordinary Colleges and Universities" list released by the China Higher Education Society for four consecutive times. In 2021, the school was elected as the chairman unit of the Rock Climbing Branch of the Chinese University Sports Association. The school adheres to the internationalization of education and carries out extensive international cooperation and exchanges. It is one of the first batch of colleges and universities in the country that are qualified to recruit international students to China. The school has established friendly cooperative relations with 131 universities, educational institutions and enterprises in 27 countries and regions. It is now qualified to receive international students in China under the Chinese Government Scholarship, Confucius Institute Scholarship, Jilin Provincial Government Scholarship and the "Silk Road" Chinese Government Scholarship Program. The school and the China Education Service Center of the Ministry of Education jointly built the "Training Base for Studying in Russia", established the first institution in Asia to carry out special research on Yesenin-Yesenin Cultural and Educational Center, and the Confucius Institute established in cooperation with Ryazan State University of Russia was awarded the honorary title of "Advanced Confucius Institute" in the world. In 2021, it was approved to become the implementing institution of the "Asian Campus" project led by the governments of China, Japan and South Korea. In 2022, the school cooperated with Keimyung University in South Korea to establish the non-independent legal person Sino-foreign cooperative school-running institution "Changchun University Keimyung College". The school attaches great importance to cultivating a distinctive campus culture. Students have won the first prize for six consecutive sessions in the National College Student Art Exhibition and won 17 national awards in the national "Challenge Cup" and "Chuang Qingchun" competitions. The "Tuanfeng Innovation and Entrepreneurship Team" was rated as the "Xiaoping Science and Technology Innovation Team" by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League. The school has been awarded the "Three Going to the Countryside" social practice activity advanced unit by the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Education, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, and the All-China Students' Federation 22 times. The school adheres to the working idea of "using competition to promote education, using competition to guide education, using competition to educate people, and using competition to promote innovation and entrepreneurship education", combining traditional and emerging advantageous disciplines and majors to deeply promote innovation and entrepreneurship education. In 2017, it became the second batch of national demonstration universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform. Since 2017, the FCC team has achieved good results in the China Formula Student Car Competition series for four consecutive times, and the total score has increased year by year, winning the title of the most influential team. In 1987, the China Disabled Persons' Federation and the People's Government of Jilin Province established the first special education college in Asia that specializes in recruiting visually impaired and hearing-impaired students to receive higher education at Changchun University, creating a precedent for disabled people in my country to receive higher education, building a higher special education undergraduate talent training system, and filling the gap in my country's higher education. In 2018, the School of Special Education obtained the qualification of single examination and single recruitment for master's students, and began to recruit students with disabilities in four majors: traditional Chinese medicine, fine arts, art design, and music. It is currently the largest and most professional college in China for disabled college students. Over the past 30 years, the school's special education work has won many international and domestic honors and awards, and has been identified by the China Disabled Persons' Federation and the Ministry of Education as a "National Pilot College for Higher Inclusive Education for People with Disabilities". In 2002, Deng Pufang, then chairman of the China Disabled Persons' Federation, pointed out at the 15th anniversary celebration of the college that "Changchun University School of Special Education is the earliest, largest, most comprehensive, and highest-level school, and it occupies a leading position in the field of higher special education in my country." In 2017, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the college, Zhang Haidi, chairman of the China Disabled Persons' Federation, pointed out in a congratulatory letter that "the establishment of Changchun University School of Special Education is a historic beginning of China's higher special education and a milestone in the development of China's disabled cause." In the new era and new leap, the school will strive to build the School of Special Education into a leading domestic and world-class higher special education institution. Changchun University is the birthplace of the "tuanfeng" spirit. One day in April 1989, Jin Xie, a disabled college student at the school, received a remittance slip of 10 yuan signed by "Tuanfeng". Then, the second and third remittance slips arrived unexpectedly. For a time, many college students with difficulties in life received remittances signed by "Tuanfeng". After the "Tuanfeng" deeds appeared, they attracted widespread attention from all walks of life. Organizations at all levels of the country, provinces and cities successively made decisions, calling on the majority of young league members to learn "Tuanfeng" based on their own duties, strive to be role models for young people, and strive to be pioneers of the times. Over the years, the "Tuanfeng" spirit has been continuously enriched and developed, forming the basic spiritual connotation of "caring for others, selfless dedication, determination to become talents, and serving the motherland" as the core. It has developed from the initial individual poverty alleviation and charity actions to the later practical activities of the whole school's teachers and students and even the youth groups in the society with the theme of "patriotism, dedication, and dedication", which is in line with Chinese culture and the spirit of the times.
