Changsha Normal University is a full-time public undergraduate college run by the People's Government of Hunan Province. Its predecessor was the Changsha Normal School founded in 1912 by Mr. Xu Teli, Chairman Mao's teacher, proletarian revolutionary, and founder of the Republic's education. The school has a long history of running schools, a profound cultural heritage, a gathering of famous teachers, and outstanding talents. In the course of a hundred years of development, it has brought together scholars and celebrities such as Yang Changji, Zhu Jianfan, and Zhou Gucheng, and more than 40 revolutionary martyrs such as Liu Zhixun, Luo Xuezan, Chen Zhangfu, and Jiang Changqing. It has cultivated a large number of pillars of society, represented by Tian Han, the composer of the national anthem, Xu Guangda, a founding general, Liu Ying, a female hero of the Long March, and Liao Mosha, a famous writer. As the most important memorial site and research base for Xu Teli in the country, the school has always been highly valued by the Party and the government. Party and state leaders such as Hu Yaobang, Li Lanqing, Li Tieying, and Liu Yandong have expressed their cordial care through inscriptions, interviews, and inspections. The school has been adhering to normal education for a century and developing preschool teacher education for more than 70 years. It is the implementation unit of the reform project of the "Excellent Teacher Training Program" of the Ministry of Education, the pilot university of the "Sports and Aesthetic Education Immersion Action Plan", the implementation unit of the teacher training work of the "Children's Language Homophone Program", and the "National Training of Kindergarten Teachers" Demonstration Comprehensive Reform Training Base, the implementation unit of the "Ministry of Education-UNICEF Cooperation Project", and the participating universities of the "Teacher Education Collaborative Quality Improvement Plan". Hunan Province is building a "Strong Education Province" teacher training base, and a practice base for young backbone teachers and principals (garden directors) of basic education in the new era; it is a master's degree awarding unit approved for project construction in 2021. School conditions: The school currently has two campuses, Xingsha and Ansha, with a campus area of 686,600 square meters, a building area of 373,500 square meters, a total value of 129 million yuan for teaching and scientific research equipment, and a collection of 1.0778 million paper books; there is currently 1 provincial practical teaching demonstration center, 9 school-level teaching experimental centers, 54 experimental training rooms; 2 outdoor sports fields, 1 gymnasium, and complete supporting facilities. Disciplines and majors: The school currently has three provincial-level applied specialty disciplines: education, Chinese language and literature, and art. There are 30 undergraduate majors, covering multiple disciplines such as education, art, literature, science, engineering, management, and law. The professional construction has achieved remarkable results. It has two national-level first-class undergraduate professional construction sites in preschool education and physical education, and 10 provincial-level first-class undergraduate professional construction sites such as primary education, Chinese language and literature, English, music, fine arts, dance, electronic information engineering, and hotel management; 8 national-level first-class undergraduate courses such as "Children's Language Education", "Children's Dance Creation", and "Primary School Chinese Teaching Design", "Principles of Preschool Education", "Children's Language Education and Activity Guidance", and "Kindergarten Teachers' Language Skills" 3 national-level teacher education boutique resource sharing courses, "Modern Educational Technology", "Kindergarten Curriculum" and other 52 provincial-level first-class undergraduate courses, "Chinese Archery" and "Comprehensive English" 4 provincial-level curriculum ideological and political demonstration courses. Faculty: The school currently has 1,027 in-service faculty and staff, including 672 full-time teachers. Among the teachers, 298 have senior professional titles and 157 have doctoral degrees (excluding 116 students). Scientific research: The school has 17 provincial and above scientific research platforms, including the National Children's Sports Development Research Center, Hunan Preschool Education Research Center, and Hunan Women and Children Education Research Center. The "Preschool Education Research" hosted by the school is a national Chinese core journal, AMI core journal, CSSCI source journal, and an important source journal for the reprint of newspapers and periodicals of the National People's Congress. Since its promotion to a university, it has hosted more than 2,100 scientific research projects at various levels, including the National Natural Science Foundation and the National Social Science Foundation; published 361 academic works and textbooks, and published more than 4,100 academic papers; won 17 provincial higher education teaching achievement awards, 6 provincial and above scientific research achievement awards; and obtained 1,276 patents and software copyrights. Social Service: The school actively serves the needs of the national development strategy and local economic and social development. It is one of the four universities designated by the Ministry of Education to provide counterpart support to Yunnan Lijiang Teachers College; it undertakes 70% of the national training tasks for kindergarten teachers in Hunan, and is entrusted by more than a dozen provinces including Gansu, Jilin, Xinjiang, and Tibet to undertake a series of special training projects. It was selected by the Ministry of Education as a kindergarten teacher curriculum training standard development unit and a participating institution for the 2021-2025 kindergarten teacher training institution training management and curriculum development project; it was the first in the country to implement poverty alleviation plans such as publicly funded targeted training of preschool education undergraduates and publicly funded targeted training of rural primary school teachers. It is a typical unit of education poverty alleviation in Hunan; it vigorously promotes school administration , school-enterprise, and school-school cooperation. We have implemented strategic cooperation with China Children's Center, Hunan Normal University, Xiangtan University, and Central South Media Group. The Education Department has entrusted our school to build a preschool education quality monitoring and evaluation platform in Hunan Province. The Provincial Health Commission has entrusted our school to build a training base for leaders and childcare staff of childcare training institutions in Hunan Province. We have actively implemented the pilot work of the reform of the system and mechanism of all-factor coordination between schools, land and gardens in Hunan Province, and presided over key projects such as the Hunan Province "Guidelines for Learning and Development of Children Aged 3-6" experiment, which have made positive contributions to promoting local economic and social development and balanced development of urban and rural education. Cultural inheritance and innovation: The school continues the century-old red tradition and insists on building a highland of "unique spirit". It has a large number of cultural inheritance and innovation platforms such as the Advanced Model Studio of the Central Civilization Office, the University Student Network Culture Studio of the Ministry of Education, the Hunan Patriotism Education Base, and the Hunan Youth Education Base.
