Changyuan Vocational and Technical College of Cooking is a full-time general higher vocational college approved by the Henan Provincial People's Government and registered by the Ministry of Education. It is included in the national unified entrance examination. It is located in Changyuan City, Henan Province, which enjoys the reputation of "Hometown of Chinese Chefs". It has complete infrastructure, elegant environment and complete modern teaching equipment. The college covers an area of 378 acres, with a construction area of more than 200,000 square meters and more than 11,000 students. The college was formerly the Anyang District Chef Training Class established in Changyuan in 1963. In 2006, Fan Guodong, Chairman of Changyuan Galaxy Group, funded the establishment of Changyuan Broad Cooking School. In 2010, it was upgraded to a full-time higher vocational college. Under the correct leadership of the Provincial Party Committee’s College Working Committee and Changyuan Municipal Party Committee, the college adheres to the school motto of “accumulating virtue and righteousness, respecting culture and valuing skills”, adheres to the school-running philosophy of “running majors around industries, and promoting industries by running majors well”, promotes production through learning, develops the school through industry, integrates production and education, and develops with characteristics. It follows the path of development of “keeping pace with national development, connecting with regional industries, interacting with the private economy, building together with industry and enterprises, and integrating with international exchanges”. With the construction of “dual colleges” as its central task, it actively serves the regional economic development, focuses on building a new comprehensive system of high-level construction of the college, expands the scale of school operation, highlights the characteristics of school operation, improves the quality of school operation, strengthens the strength of school operation, implements the fundamental task of cultivating morality and educating people, and strives to create a higher vocational college with distinctive characteristics, outstanding advantages, domestic influence, and global communication. The college is a national-level "cooking technology and nutrition" backbone professional construction unit, a national-level "catering food R&D and distribution center" production training base construction unit, a high-level professional group project construction unit in Henan Province, a key project construction unit for comprehensive education reform in Henan Province, a demonstration base for higher vocational education in Henan Province, a high-skilled talent training base in Henan Province, a social inheritance base for intangible cultural heritage in Henan Province, a demonstration base for rural revitalization skilled talent training in Henan Province, the top ten most competitive universities in employment in Henan Province, the top 30 comprehensive strength colleges in Henan Province (higher vocational colleges), a Chinese cooking master (famous teacher) training base, a Chinese cooking master (famous teacher) workstation, and a demonstration base for food culture exchange under the Sino-French high-level people-to-people exchange mechanism. The college has a cooking technology and nutrition college, a food college, a cultural tourism college, a business administration college, an information engineering college, and a preschool education college. It has 35 higher vocational majors and has initially formed four professional clusters of cooking technology and nutrition, preschool education, e-commerce, and information engineering. Among them, the cooking technology and nutrition professional group is a "double high" construction project in Henan Province, and the "food carving" course is a demonstration project of ideological and political courses in vocational education of the Ministry of Education. There are 79 professional training rooms for Chinese cooking, Western cooking, Chinese and Western pastries, catering services, hotel management, information engineering, e-commerce, preschool education, food testing, etc., which meet the needs of practical training and teaching in various majors. The college implements the strategy of strengthening the school with talents and pays attention to the construction of a "double-qualified" teaching team. There are 14 Chinese cooking masters teaching at the school. There are 4 master studios at or above the provincial level, including skill master studios and model worker innovation studios. 44 Chinese cooking (catering service) masters, 24 researchers, and 13 senior consultants are hired. "Dual-qualified" teachers account for 80%, which fully guarantees the teaching quality and school-running level of the college. The college teachers and students have represented Henan Province in national skill competitions many times, and have won 19 group gold medals, 73 gold medals, and 110 silver medals in various national skill competitions. In 2016, 93 students participated in and successfully completed the service work of the Hangzhou G20 Summit. In 2018, 2019 and 2022, some outstanding students were selected to participate in the conference service work of the Henan delegation at the National People's Congress. In 2022, 94 students majoring in cooking participated in the logistics support services of the Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics, bringing the taste of Changyuan to the competition area. The pastries they made, "pictographic mango buns" and "pictographic pomegranate buns", were also served at the New Year's Eve feast, which was welcomed by Chinese and foreign athletes. The college deepens the integration of production and education and school-enterprise cooperation. It took the lead in establishing the Henan Culinary Vocational Education Group and co-built the Weihua Industrial College with the internationally renowned Changyuan leading enterprise Weihua Group. It signed agreements with well-known catering companies such as Marriott International Hotel Group, Kaiyuan Tourism Group, Hilton Hotel, and Dadong Catering Investment Co., Ltd. to jointly build corporate-titled classes, jointly formulate talent training plans, jointly carry out talent training, and promote the "double certificate" system. The college attaches importance to the inheritance of excellent traditional culture. It has edited and published many books such as "Chinese Food Outline", "Chef's Hometown Charm", and "Hundreds of Dishes and Hundreds of Classics". It has edited and published a number of national planned cooking textbooks, including "The Nature, Flavor and Efficacy of Commonly Used Ingredients", "Cooking Technology Training", and "Food Carving". In cooperation with CCTV and Henan TV, it has filmed a number of feature films, including "Chinese Henan Cuisine" and "The Taste of Hometown". It has made due contributions to the excavation, protection and promotion of cooking culture, and has received unanimous praise from all walks of life. The college actively carries out foreign cooperation and exchanges, and has reached cooperation agreements with Jeonju University in South Korea and the Handicraft Industry Association of Seine-Maritime Province in France, laying a good foundation for students to go abroad for further study and employment. In March 2019, more than 30 students from the French Food Culture Delegation came to the college for exchanges and study. Since the establishment of Changyuan Chef College in the 1960s, the college has trained tens of thousands of cooking talents. Outstanding students represented by Feng Jianzhong, the founder of the brand of Mantianxing Meat Ribbon Soup, have enabled the exquisite cooking skills of the kitchen town to be inherited and carried forward, and promoted the transformation and upgrading of Changyuan from "chef economy" to "cooking industry", and made new contributions to the realization of high-quality development of the county economy.
