Chengde Vocational College of Applied Technology is located in Chengde City, Hebei Province, a famous historical and cultural city with beautiful scenery. It is a public full-time general college affiliated to Chengde City. Its predecessor was Chengde Technician College (Chengde Industrial School) founded in 1958. In May 2018, in order to implement the major national strategic deployment of the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, Tianjin City supported the construction of a higher vocational college in Chengde City. The college was renamed "Chengde Vocational College of Applied Technology" and served as a cooperative school of Tianjin Sino-German University of Applied Technology. The college is divided into north and south campuses, covering an area of 630 acres and a building area of 220,000 square meters. There are more than 11,000 students and more than 760 faculty and staff, including 335 "dual-qualified" teachers, 1 expert enjoying special allowances from the State Council, 2 "three-three-three" talents in Hebei Province, 1 provincial outstanding expert, and 3 municipal outstanding experts. The college has 6 departments, including the Department of Intelligent Manufacturing, the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, the Department of Business Management, the Department of Automotive Engineering, the Department of Preschool Education, and the Department of Jincheng Art Design, 8 professional groups, 26 majors, and recruits students from 12 provinces and cities across the country. The college has been successively rated as a labor transfer training demonstration base of the State Council Poverty Alleviation Office, a national foreign labor export training base, a national high-skilled talent training demonstration base, a training base for backbone teachers of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security's integrated curriculum reform, the first batch of national secondary vocational education reform and development demonstration schools, "3+4" secondary vocational and undergraduate through-training pilot schools, the first batch of national vocational training institute construction pilot colleges, national advanced vocational education units, and national education system advanced collectives. It has won the National May 1st Labor Award and has been selected as one of the 20 "quality schools for connotation construction" that are given priority support by Hebei Province's vocational education. In the past three years, teachers and students of the college have actively participated in various skill competitions at all levels, and have won 10 national group awards, 52 provincial group awards, 3 national individual awards, and 6 provincial individual awards for students; teachers have won 4 national group awards, 14 provincial group awards, 2 national individual awards, and 2 provincial individual awards. The college has established school-enterprise cooperation relationships with more than 300 companies and signed mutual base agreements with more than 200 companies, providing solid guarantees for students' high-quality employment. Chengde Intelligent Equipment Industry Research Institute settled in the college to further serve the development of local industries. The Mechanical Manufacturing Party Branch was selected as an advanced grassroots party organization in Hebei Province. The Technical Secondary School (Chengde Industrial School) won the 7th Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Excellent School Award, and its school quality and influence have ranked first in the province and among the best in the country. Looking to the future, the college has determined the characteristic development goals of "three bases" and "three demonstrations". That is, after ten years of efforts, the college will be built into a high-quality applied technology talent training base serving the economic and social development of Chengde and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, a first-class vocational training base to promote employment and assist the lifelong development of technical and skilled personnel, and an innovation and entrepreneurship incubation and practical technology research and development base that serves industrial transformation and upgrading, and integrates production, teaching and research. Adhere to characteristic development and strive to build the college into a national demonstration of education poverty alleviation, a demonstration of coordinated development of education in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, and a demonstration of integrated development of secondary and higher vocational education.
