Chengdu Industrial Vocational and Technical College was founded in 1951. Its predecessor was six industry secondary technical schools, including Chengdu Railway Transportation School, Chengdu Industrial School, and Chengdu Construction School. In 2014, it was approved by the People's Government of Sichuan Province to be established as a public full-time higher vocational and technical college. The school currently covers an area of 654 acres, with 859 faculty and staff, 34.05% of whom have senior professional titles, 64.95% of whom have master's and doctoral degrees, and a school scale of more than 17,000 people. The school takes moral education as its foundation, serves development and promotes employment as its orientation, adheres to the school motto of "Moral Health, Skills Perfection", is based in Chengdu, serves Sichuan, and radiates across the country, providing strong talent and skills support for the comprehensive construction of a modern socialist country. In 2021, the school was selected as a construction unit of the "Double High Plan" in Sichuan Province (Sichuan Province's high-level vocational schools and high-level professional groups); in 2022, the major of rail transit signal and control was included in the pilot reform of undergraduate talent training in Sichuan Province. The school serves Chengdu's industrial circle and chain building, and aims at the advantageous industries to build five major professional clusters of intelligent manufacturing and automobiles, rail transit, information engineering, construction engineering, finance and trade. It has opened 39 three-year higher vocational majors such as industrial robots, new energy vehicles, urban rail transit operation management, and information security and management, providing high-quality technical and skilled personnel support for Chengdu's construction of a park city demonstration zone that practices the new development concept. Two national-level modern apprenticeship pilot majors, four provincial-level majors, one national demonstration major, and two provincial-level high-level professional groups have been built. The school has deepened the integration of production and education, school-enterprise cooperation, and centered on key industries and key areas such as new generation information technology, high-end equipment, intelligent manufacturing, and new materials. It has carried out in-depth cooperation with leading domestic and foreign companies such as Chengdu Metro, Sichuan Lynk & Co, JD.com, Shanghai Otis, UFIDA Xindao, Mercedes-Benz, BASF, and IMI in the UK in the areas of co-construction and sharing of educational resources, technological innovation services, and transformation of scientific research results, and promoted the matching of vocational education resources with major regional industrial strategies. Targeting major industrial functional areas, the school has established five "schools in the park" including equipment manufacturing, automobiles, cross-border e-commerce, international industrial colleges and construction engineering, implemented the "2+0.5+0.5" talent training model reform, and delivered nearly 10,000 talents to the park at zero distance. The reform results won 1 second prize of national teaching achievements and 1 first prize of provincial teaching achievements. The school insists on innovation-driven development. In conjunction with the People's Government of Jintang County and H3C Group, the school has built the H3C Core Cloud Industrial College with mixed ownership characteristics in the mode of "government-built, enterprise-invested, and school-run", and will move into the Chengdu International Vocational Education City in 2022. Together with the Chengdu Federation of Trade Unions, FANUC Robotics, BASF, Geely Automobile and others, it has invested more than 80 million yuan to build a Chengdu craftsman public training base integrating "production, learning, research and application". In cooperation with Southwest Jiaotong University, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Center, and the Sichuan Innovation Institute of Tianjin University, the "Advanced Coating Engineering Technology Center", "Additive Manufacturing Innovation Center" and "Ultrafast Laser Precision Processing Technology Center" were established to jointly create an advanced manufacturing pilot base. The alliance of colleges and universities for the training of talents in secondary and higher vocational schools has been established, which has absorbed more than 80 secondary vocational schools in the province, implemented the "six-year integrated" talent training for secondary and higher vocational schools, and cultivated higher professional skills with a "long school system". It has taken the lead in establishing five vocational education groups, including urban rail, logistics, automobiles, construction, finance and trade, covering more than 100 colleges and universities and more than 110 enterprises. The school has comprehensively improved its internationalization level, actively responded to the "Belt and Road" initiative, served international production capacity cooperation, and carried out various international exchange and cooperation projects. It has jointly organized a Sino-foreign cooperative education project at the junior college level in mechanical manufacturing and automation with Assumption University in Thailand. Three overseas branches have been established in Thailand and Laos, training 60 international students annually. It has worked closely with the Thai Electric Vehicle Association, the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, etc. to promote the international industry-education integration innovation model and build an international brand for Chengdu vocational education.
