Chengdu Medical College is a full-time general higher medical college organized by the Sichuan Provincial People's Government. Its history can be traced back to the health cadre training class held by the Henan-Anhui-Suzhou Military Region in 1947. In August 2004, according to the decision of the State Council and the Central Military Commission, the school was transferred to the management of the Sichuan Provincial People's Government as a whole, and the name was changed from "Chengdu Military Medical College of the Third Military Medical University" to "Chengdu Medical College". The school has always inherited and carried forward the fine tradition of "paying special attention to politics, paying special attention to the overall situation, observing discipline, paying special attention to dedication, and being able to fight", adhering to the school motto of "being knowledgeable and loving, and striving for excellence", and adhering to the school-running positioning of "focusing on medical disciplines and majors, combining medical science, medical engineering, and medical management, and coordinating the development of disciplines and majors", forming a school-running pattern covering postgraduates, undergraduates, junior colleges and continuing education. The school started undergraduate education in 2000; obtained the right to confer bachelor's degrees in 2006; became a master's degree conferring institution in 2011; became the first batch of "pilot universities for the Excellent Doctor Education and Training Program" in the country in 2012; passed the undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation of the Ministry of Education in 2013, and the "Sichuan Elderly Care and Elderly Health Collaborative Innovation Center" led by it was approved as the first batch of "2011 Plan" projects in Sichuan Province; in 2016, it became the first university in the province to pass the clinical medicine professional certification of the Ministry of Education with excellent results; in 2017, it was approved as a demonstration university for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in Sichuan Province; in 2018, it became a construction institution of the Ministry of Education's Data China "Hundred Schools Project" and a "Sichuan Province Remote Continuing Medical Education Trial Operation Institution"; in 2019, it became a doctoral degree authorization project construction unit in Sichuan Province, and successfully passed the undergraduate teaching work review and evaluation; in 2022, clinical medicine will enter the top 1% of ESI disciplines worldwide. The school currently has two campuses in Xindu and Tianhui, covering an area of more than 1,100 acres, with 15,400 full-time students. There are 14 secondary teaching units and 13 affiliated hospitals. There are 12 master's degree authorization points (9 master's professional degree authorization points: clinical medicine, pharmacy, public health, medical technology, applied psychology, nursing, biology and medicine, public administration, agriculture, 3 master's first-level discipline degree authorization points: clinical medicine, basic medicine, Marxist theory), 24 undergraduate majors, and 5 junior college majors. Three disciplines of the Gongga Plan for the "Double First-Class" Construction of Higher Education Institutions in Sichuan Province have been approved. There are 2 national experimental teaching platforms, 1 medical humanities quality education base of the Ministry of Education, and 5 experimental teaching demonstration centers in Sichuan Province. There are 4 national first-class undergraduate professional construction points, 13 provincial first-class undergraduate professional construction points, 3 Sichuan undergraduate specialty majors, 4 Sichuan application-oriented demonstration majors, 5 national first-class undergraduate courses, provincial first-class undergraduate courses, curriculum ideological and political demonstration courses, innovation and entrepreneurship education demonstration courses, application-oriented demonstration courses, etc. A total of 86 courses. In the past five years, 3 first prizes and 4 second prizes of provincial excellent teaching achievements have been approved. The school currently has 1,193 faculty members, 52.6% of whom are full-time teachers with senior professional titles, and 82.7% of whom have master's and doctoral degrees. There are more than 130 high-level talents and reserve candidates, including experts with special allowances from the State Council, academic and technical leaders of Sichuan Province, "Tianfu Qingcheng Plan" and "Tianfu Emei Plan". More than 30 people have won honorary titles such as National Model of Medical Ethics and Sichuan Provincial Model Workers. The school has built 16 provincial and ministerial key scientific research platforms, including Sichuan Provincial Key Laboratory, Sichuan Provincial Engineering Laboratory, and Sichuan Provincial Key Research Base of Philosophy and Society, established 10 provincial and ministerial high-level research teams, and hosted 7 professional associations and social organizations at or above the provincial and ministerial level. Since 2005, it has obtained 175 projects from the National Natural Science Foundation and the National Social Science Foundation, and 317 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects. Teachers' academic papers have been published in top international academic journals such as Cell, and more than a thousand papers have been included in SCI, EI, CPCI-S, etc. 147 academic works have been published and 177 patents have been authorized. In the past five years, the school has won 1 first prize, 6 second prizes and 5 third prizes in provincial and ministerial science and technology achievement awards. The Journal of Chengdu Medical College is a core journal of Chinese science and technology, and has been rated as an excellent science and technology journal by national and provincial news and publishing departments many times. The school has formed the educational characteristics of "rooted in the military spirit, based on medicine, highlighting application, and pursuing excellence". In the China College Students Medical Technology Skills Competition, it won the first prize in the national finals once, the second prize twice, and the third prize twice. It has repeatedly won good results in the National "Internet +" College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and the "Challenge Cup" National College Students Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition. Enrolling students nationwide, the transfer line is higher than the provincial control line. Clinical medicine, medical imaging, anesthesiology, preventive medicine, pediatrics, traditional Chinese medicine, and medical laboratory technology majors are enrolled in the first batch of undergraduates. The school attaches great importance to in-depth medical, teaching and research cooperation with domestic and foreign universities, research institutions, local governments and enterprises and institutions. It has established close cooperative relations with more than 10 universities and academic institutions such as Xiamen University, Bremen University of Applied Sciences in Germany, Assumption University in Thailand, and Eurasian Pacific Academic Association, more than 20 local governments such as Chengdu City, and hundreds of enterprises and research institutes such as Sichuan Kelun Pharmaceutical.
