The China Conservatory of Music was established in 1964. It is a national "double first-class" construction university and the secretariat school of the "Global Music Education Alliance". The school adheres to the leadership of the Party and the socialist direction of running schools. It takes "inheriting Chinese studies, promoting Chinese rhyme, cultivating Chinese instruments, and strengthening Chinese music" as its school-running philosophy, advocating and building the "Chinese School of Music" as its school-running orientation, taking high-level research universities as its school-running type, and building a world-class university as its school-running goal. Education and teaching cover three levels: postgraduate, undergraduate, and attached high school (preparatory), forming a comprehensive discipline layout integrating musicology, composition and composition technology theory, music performance, and music education.
