Chongqing Aerospace Vocational and Technical College is a public full-time general higher vocational college sponsored by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation and under the jurisdiction of Chongqing Municipal Education Commission. Its predecessor was Southwest Aerospace Staff University, which was founded in April 1983. In July 1999, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was transformed into Chongqing Electronic Vocational and Technical College. It is the first independently established higher vocational and technical college in Chongqing. In March 2008, it was renamed Chongqing Aerospace Vocational and Technical College. In 2013, it was established as a "Chongqing Municipal Demonstration Higher Vocational College" by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission and the Chongqing Municipal Finance Bureau. In 2015, it was identified by the Ministry of Education as a "College for the Targeted Training of Directly Recruited Non-commissioned Officers of the Chinese People's Liberation Army" and "The First Batch of Modern Apprenticeship Pilot Colleges in China"; in 2016, it was established by the Ministry of Education as "The First Batch of Pilot Colleges for Diagnosis and Improvement of the Internal Quality Assurance System of Vocational Colleges in China"; in 2018, it was identified as a "Chongqing High-quality Higher Vocational College Construction Unit"; in 2019, it was established by the Ministry of Education as a "Construction Unit of the Chinese Characteristic High-level Vocational Colleges and Majors Construction Plan". Under the care and guidance of Chongqing Municipal Party Committee, Municipal Government, Municipal Education Commission, China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, and the Seventh Research Institute of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, after more than 30 years of school-running practice, the college has gradually formed the school-running philosophy of "open school-running, scientific management, quality-based school-running, and characteristic-based school-running" with the style of "daring to be the first, rigorous and pragmatic", and established the fine school spirit of "diligent study, self-reliance, dedication, and innovation". The college currently has Jiangbei Campus, Yubei Campus, Jiangjin Campus and the Liangjiang New Campus under construction, covering a total area of nearly 1,000 acres, with more than 11,000 students. The school consists of 8 secondary colleges, including the School of Aeronautical Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Electronic Information and Communication Engineering, the School of Intelligent Information Engineering, the School of Aviation and Tourism Management, the School of Finance and Business, the School of Media and Art Design, the School of Preschool Education, and the School of Non-commissioned Officers. It offers 38 majors, including aviation composite material forming and processing technology, satellite communication and navigation technology, aircraft electromechanical equipment maintenance, aircraft electronic equipment maintenance, drone application technology, aircraft digital manufacturing technology, cloud computing application technology, artificial intelligence technology, electronic information engineering technology, software technology, flight attendants, airport operation services and management, etc., forming a professional system that focuses on electronic information and intelligent manufacturing technology and adapts to the aerospace industry, national defense industry and Chongqing's economic development. It has established 2 pilot majors for the modern apprenticeship system of the Ministry of Education, 12 key majors supported by the central government, 2 characteristic majors of Chongqing's higher vocational education, and 15 key majors supported by Chongqing's finances. It has established 1 national-level boutique course, 30 municipal-level boutique courses and online boutique open courses. It won 1 second prize for national teaching achievements and 3 first prizes for teaching achievements in Chongqing. The school explores the construction of professional teaching teams in accordance with the modern team management methods of aerospace enterprises, and has built a team of full-time and part-time dual-teacher teachers. There are currently 124 professors, associate professors, and senior engineers, and 139 doctoral and master's students, including 1 National Advanced Vocational Education Individual, 2 Advanced Individuals of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation's "Aerospace Contribution Award", 4 Advanced Individuals of Chongqing State-owned Enterprise Contribution Award, 2 Chongqing Teaching Masters, and 6 Middle-aged and Young Key Teachers; 7 Excellent Teaching Teams of Chongqing Higher Education Institutions and 6 Excellent Teams of the Seventh Academy of Aerospace. The Science and Technology Committee of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation has specially established a school development and construction advisory committee led by Academician Bao Weimin for the school. The school hired 3 academicians of the two academies from China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation as distinguished professors, and hired more than 100 engineering and technical personnel and technicians from aerospace military enterprises and Chongqing local enterprises to participate in teaching. The school insists on taking the development path of combining production, learning, and research, and the quality of talent training is constantly improving. In recent years, students have participated in vocational skill competitions at the municipal level and above, and have won more than 40 national awards and more than 200 municipal awards; the employment rate of graduates has remained above 95%, and the employment matching rate has been above 80%. At the same time, with the help of its national defense background, the school has trained cadets for the national defense forces. It has cooperated with the Rocket Force, the Navy and the Strategic Support Force, and has sent more than 600 people to the troops every year. The quality of talent training has been widely recognized. The school gives full play to the technical and human advantages of "industry-run schools, school-enterprise integration", and has in-depth cooperation with aerospace military enterprises, Chongqing local enterprises and institutions and the national defense forces. The school and enterprises jointly build a production-education integration training base, with 16 on-campus training bases and more than 200 off-campus training bases, of which 5 on-campus training bases have been built into national-level training bases and 2 municipal-level training bases. At the same time, the school actively undertakes corporate and social training. The school is a high-skilled talent training base of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, a management cadre training base of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, an e-government and informatization training base for party and government cadres in Chongqing, a high-skilled talent training base in Chongqing, a training base for key secondary vocational teachers in Chongqing, and a training base for the Chongqing Vocational Education Society. It has trained more than 200,000 front-line employees and management cadres for aerospace enterprises and Chongqing enterprises and institutions. The school also actively serves the national Belt and Road development strategy and insists on providing high-quality training services to overseas customers.
