Chongqing Electric Power College is a full-time general college approved by the Ministry of Education, organized by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, supervised by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, and jointly established by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission and the State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company. The school's predecessor, Chongqing Electric Industry School, was established in May 1953 with the approval of the Central Ministry of Fuel Industry, and later renamed Chongqing Electric Power Industry School. It is one of the first seven electric power secondary vocational schools in the country. In September 1953, it was renamed Chongqing Power School. In 1958, it was renamed Chongqing Electric Power School. It was twice identified as a national key secondary vocational school in 1980 and 1994. In 1995, it was upgraded to a higher vocational college with the approval of the State Education Commission. It is the only electric power higher vocational college in the southwest region. The school has two campuses, Jiulongpo and Tongnan, covering a total area of 1,451 acres. The school has 6 secondary colleges, including the School of Electrical Engineering, the School of Power Engineering, the School of Intelligent Engineering, the School of Economics and Management, and the School of Information Engineering. It offers 31 majors, covering major categories such as energy, power and materials, equipment manufacturing, electronic information, resources, environment and safety, finance, commerce, and tourism. The school's majors are mainly energy and power, covering all links of the power system's "source, grid, load, and storage" industry chain, covering all types of power generation such as water, fire, wind, nuclear energy, solar energy, and biomass, and covering all voltage levels from 220V to 1000kV. The school insists on deepening the integration of production and education, and school-enterprise cooperation. Through "introducing enterprises to campus, introducing schools into enterprises, and integrating schools and enterprises", it has built a virtual and real integration, covering the entire power industry chain, and integrating teaching, training, vocational skills appraisal, and technology research and development functions. 138 experimental training sites with outstanding industry characteristics and advanced domestic technology. The new energy power generation smart microgrid training center, smart distribution network training base, smart substation operation training room, wind turbine assembly and dispatching training base, steam turbine control and fault diagnosis technology laboratory, Haier Internet of Things training center and other experimental training rooms are in the leading position among similar domestic institutions. As the chairman unit of Chongqing Electric Power Vocational Education Group, the school makes full use of the platforms and industry advantages of vocational education groups and school boards, and jointly establishes 101 internship training bases with large leading power companies such as State Grid, China Southern Power Grid, two major nuclear power groups, and five major power generation groups, effectively ensuring the needs of practical teaching and ensuring that the students trained by the school meet the quality requirements of modern vocational and technical education. The school recruits students from 29 provinces across the country and currently has more than 10,000 students. In the past three years, the implementation rate of graduates' year-end graduation destinations has remained above 97%. The implementation rate of the year-end graduation destinations of the 2022 graduates reached 98.06%, the supply-demand ratio reached 1:5, and the professional matching rate was 86.77%. More than 50% of graduates entered state-owned enterprises, and more than 40% of graduates entered China's top 500 companies.
