Chongqing Jiaotong University is a multidisciplinary university with distinct transportation characteristics and engineering as its main discipline. In 1951, in accordance with Chairman Mao's instructions, in order to build the Kangzang Highway and the Great Southwest, the Southwest Military and Political Committee chaired by Deng Xiaoping founded the school, which was then named Southwest Jiaotong College. In 1960, Chongqing Jiaotong College was established. Subsequently, the Civil Engineering Department of Chengdu Institute of Technology, the Metallurgical Department of Sichuan Metallurgical Institute, and the Hydraulic Engineering Department of Wuhan Water Transport Institute were successively incorporated. In 2000, the school was transferred from the Ministry of Transportation to Chongqing Municipality for management and became a provincial and ministerial co-construction university. In 2006, the school was renamed Chongqing Jiaotong University and was added as a doctoral degree awarding institution. The conditions for running a school are becoming more and more perfect. The school currently has two campuses, Nan'an and Science City, covering an area of nearly 2,900 acres. The total value of the school's fixed assets is 4.4 billion yuan, the total value of various instruments and equipment is 780 million yuan, and the school building area is 950,000 square meters. It has 1 national and 6 municipal experimental teaching demonstration centers. The library has a collection of 4.4155 million documents, including 2.3205 million paper documents and 2.095 million electronic books. More than 50 Chinese and foreign databases such as SCI, EI, Elservier, CNKI, Wanfang, and VIP have been purchased. The teaching staff is of excellent quality. The school currently has 2,210 faculty and staff, including 1,648 full-time teachers and about 900 teachers with senior professional titles. There are more than 200 high-level talents of various types, including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, distinguished professors of the Yangtze River Scholars Program, winners of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, "Ten Thousand Talents Program" science and technology innovation leaders, national candidates of the "Hundred Thousand Talents Project", young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions to the country, outstanding professional and technical talents nationwide, the Ministry of Education's New Century Excellent Talents Support Program, young and middle-aged science and technology innovation leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology, young and middle-aged science and technology innovation leaders of the Ministry of Transport, first-level candidates of the Ministry of Transport's "Ten Hundred Thousand Talents Project", young science and technology talents of the Ministry of Transport, Chongqing Talent Program, candidates of Chongqing's "One Hundred Outstanding Science and Technology Leaders Training Program", Bayu Scholars, etc. Many academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, as well as a large number of Chinese engineering design masters, national engineering survey and design masters and other industry elites are hired as special or part-time professors of the school. More than 30 people have won the titles of National Model Teachers, National Outstanding Teachers, National Advanced Science and Technology Workers, National Advanced Workers, National "Most Beautiful Science and Technology Workers", National Top Ten Bridge Figures, Chongqing Teaching Model, Chongqing Most Beautiful Science and Technology Workers, Chongqing Famous Teachers, etc. The disciplines and majors have distinct characteristics. The school currently has four first-level doctoral degree authorization points in civil engineering, water conservancy engineering, transportation engineering, and management science and engineering, 16 second-level doctoral degree authorization points, four postdoctoral research mobile stations in civil engineering, transportation engineering, water conservancy engineering, and management science and engineering, 18 first-level master's degree authorization points in civil engineering, etc., and 13 master's professional degree authorization categories such as civil water conservancy. The school is a high-level new engineering construction university in Chongqing. Education and teaching reforms are constantly deepening. A number of influential achievements have been made in the fields of mountain transportation infrastructure, cold region engineering, frozen soil ecological waterways, rail equipment, transportation logistics, green aviation, etc. The school has won 17 national science and technology progress awards and national invention awards, and more than 600 provincial, ministerial and academic science awards. Core academic journals such as "Applied Mathematics and Mechanics" and "Journal of Chongqing Jiaotong University" (Natural Science Edition, Social Science Edition) are publicly issued. International exchanges and cooperation are fruitful. The school attaches great importance to international cooperation and exchanges, and has established friendly cooperative relations with nearly 100 universities and research institutes in more than 30 countries. It initiated the establishment of the "Belt and Road" China (China) Poland (Land) University Alliance and has served as the rotating chairman.
