Chongqing Police College (hereinafter referred to as "the School") is a full-time undergraduate college organized by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, managed by the Chongqing Municipal Public Security Bureau and guided by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission. The predecessor of Chongqing Police College was the Public Security School of the Public Security Bureau of the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, established in 1950. In 2001, the Public Security School and the Chongqing People's Police School merged to form Chongqing Police Vocational College. In 2005, Chongqing Police Vocational College and Southwest University of Political Science and Law jointly established an undergraduate law major (Public Security Law Direction). In 2012, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Chongqing Police College was established on the basis of Chongqing Police Vocational College. In 2015, the school was approved as a bachelor's degree-granting institution. In January 2021, the school passed the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment of the Ministry of Education. In May 2021, the school was successfully approved to add a new master's degree-granting unit to establish a university. The school is located in Shapingba District, Chongqing, covering an area of 420,100 square meters (630.20 acres) and a building area of 115,300 square meters, including 20,200 square meters of teaching buildings, 19,600 square meters of dormitory buildings, 9,900 square meters of libraries, 16,300 square meters of laboratory buildings, 5,600 square meters of auditoriums, 9,500 square meters of office buildings, 8,300 square meters of canteens, and 25,000 square meters of combat training bases. There are 604 student dormitories in total. In addition to 54 rooms required for infirmary and management personnel, the school has 550 dormitories available for students, which can accommodate 2,200 students. The combat training base has 4 suites, 90 single rooms, and 171 standard rooms, which can accommodate 436 people. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 32.4931 million yuan. The library has 656,100 paper books, 607,900 electronic books, 858,600 electronic journals, 724 Chinese and foreign journals, and 31 resource databases. There are 27 experimental training sites and 14 internship bases. Disciplines and majors The school currently has 10 undergraduate majors, including investigation, public security, police command and tactics, criminal science and technology, traffic management engineering, network security and law enforcement, economic crime investigation, drug control, public security political work, and foreign-related police work, covering two disciplines of law and engineering, and two first-level disciplines of public security and public security technology. The major of police command and tactics is a national key professional cultivation point for public security higher education and a first-class professional construction point in Chongqing. The major of public security and criminal science and technology are Chongqing's characteristic majors and first-class professional construction points, and the major of traffic management engineering is Chongqing's characteristic major. The discipline of public security technology is a key discipline cultivation point in Chongqing. In 2021, the discipline of police was approved as a key discipline of the "14th Five-Year Plan" of municipal colleges and universities. The school has 264 faculty members, including 47 with doctoral degrees, 12 with senior professional and technical titles, 42 with deputy senior professional and technical titles, and 136 full-time teachers. In the National Public Security College Teaching Skills Competition, 5 teachers won the second prize and 7 teachers won the third prize. The school actively serves the economic and social development and public security work of Chongqing, actively integrates into the national strategies such as "Construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle" and "Construction of the Western Land-Sea New Corridor", and carries out relevant project research; organizes public security business surveys every year, and jointly studies and solves difficult and hot issues in public security operations; the research results of the "Chongqing National Security and Social Governance Research Institute" have been affirmed by the leaders of the Central Committee and Chongqing Municipality and adopted by decision-making consultation more than 10 times. Assisted the Ministry of Public Security in filming the "Video Demonstration Film on Standardized Law Enforcement by Public Security Organs" as a demonstration teaching film for standardized law enforcement by public security police across the country. Participated in the "8.12" Tianjin Port explosion organized by the Ministry of Public Security, psychological counseling for police officers in Xinjiang, and other work, serving more than 3,000 public security police officers. In the past three years, the "send education and service to the grassroots" activities have served more than 1,300 public security police; participated in large-scale security, guard tasks and people-loving practices and other activities more than 20,000 people. The school adheres to the principle of open education, and promotes school-bureau, school-enterprise, school-school cooperation and international exchanges at multiple levels and with multiple measures. Relying on the in-depth co-construction platform of the school and the bureau, it has carried out extensive collaborative education with 28 directly affiliated units of the Chongqing Public Security Bureau and 41 district and county public security bureaus. It cooperates with Chongqing University, Southwest University of Political Science and Law, Sichuan International Studies University, Sichuan Police College, H3C Group and other units to carry out talent training. It has carried out various forms of exchanges and cooperation with many countries and regions such as the United States, Singapore, and Hong Kong, and has carried out student credit transfer projects with the British Columbia Judicial College in Canada.
