Chongqing Three Gorges University was founded in 1956 and is located in Wanzhou District, Chongqing. It was upgraded to an undergraduate college in 1994, approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee as a master's degree-granting institution in 2013, and approved by the Chongqing Municipal Academic Degrees Committee as a doctoral degree-granting institution in 2021. The school is a full-time general college organized by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government and supervised by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission. In the long history of running schools, the school has accumulated and formed a school motto with "virtue, erudition, self-reliance, and innovation" as the core; the school actively grasps and adapts to the development and reform of education in the new era, accelerates the transformation and development, and becomes the first undergraduate college in Chongqing to advocate the "green education concept" and promote the "integration of green education and industry". The school is now a national smart campus construction pilot unit, a member unit of the "Double Hundred Plan" of Sino-US Applied Technology Education, a demonstration unit of Chongqing Education Informatization, a demonstration school for Chongqing Green School Construction, and an experimental school for the reform and development of aesthetic education in Chongqing universities. The school covers an area of nearly 3,000 acres, with a building area of about 710,000 square meters. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is more than 300 million yuan. The library has nearly 2 million paper books and more than 1.89 million electronic books. The school has a complete range of disciplines and distinctive characteristics. It has formed a discipline and professional system with engineering, literature, and management as the main disciplines, and coordinated development of disciplines such as science, agriculture, economics, education, law, and art. It is mainly based on undergraduate education, and graduate education and adult education are coordinated. There are 5 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points, 8 professional degree master's degree authorization points, 7 "14th Five-Year Plan" municipal key disciplines, and 3 municipal "artificial intelligence +" discipline groups; 61 undergraduate majors, 27 majors have been approved as national, provincial and ministerial specialty majors (groups), and first-class majors. In the past five sessions, it has won 16 provincial and ministerial-level and above outstanding teaching achievement awards, including 2 national second-class teaching achievement awards. The school has 18 secondary colleges and more than 20,000 full-time students, including more than 2,000 master's students. In the past five years, students have won more than 1,750 provincial and ministerial awards or above in China's "Internet +" College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, "Challenge Cup" College Student Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition, "Chuang Qingchun" College Student Entrepreneurship Plan Spirit, National College Student Electronic Design Competition, National College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition and other competitions, including 1 gold medal in the 8th China International "Internet +" College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, 2 silver medals in the 2023 China International College Student Innovation Competition, 1 special prize in the China TRIZ Cup College Student Innovation Method Competition, 3 first prizes, and 1 first prize in the National College Student Electronic Design Competition; won 12 consecutive championships in the China College Student Computer Game Competition and 14 consecutive championships in the Chongqing College Student Wushu Competition. It has established a national expert service base, Chongqing Academician Workstation, and Postdoctoral Research Workstation. There are 28 scientific research platforms such as provincial and ministerial key laboratories, national industry test bases, and provincial and ministerial engineering technology centers. It has hosted more than 670 national and provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, and undertaken more than 710 horizontal projects commissioned by government departments, enterprises and institutions. It has been approved as 6 provincial and ministerial innovation teams (innovation research groups); it has obtained more than 900 national authorized patents, including more than 200 invention patents; and published more than 120 academic works. The school actively carries out the work of opening up education to the outside world, and has established cooperative relations with many foreign universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, many foreign companies and research institutions such as Germany's BSK and Indonesia's International Daily, many domestic universities such as Southeast University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Shandong University, and many local governments, enterprises and institutions.
