Chuxiong Normal University is a full-time undergraduate university in Yunnan Province. It was established in May 2001 with the approval of the Ministry of Education. The origin of the school can be traced back to the provincial Zhennan Normal School established in 1936. It is a university with a glorious revolutionary tradition and distinctive characteristics of normal education. The school is located in Chuxiong City, the capital of Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, more than 100 kilometers away from Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province, with convenient transportation and beautiful campus environment. In 2009, the school was awarded the title of "National Civilized Unit" by the Central Civilization Committee. In 2011, the school's "Ethnology" was selected as a key discipline with advantages and characteristics in Yunnan Province's "Twelfth Five-Year Plan". In 2014, it was listed as a national project unit of the "Excellent Primary School Teacher Training Program Reform Project" by the Ministry of Education. In 2015, it was approved as a pilot university for the overall transformation and reform of local universities in Yunnan Province. In 2016, "Education" was selected into the Yunnan Province First-Class Discipline (Class B Plateau Discipline) Construction Project. In the same year, it was awarded the honorary title of "Demonstration School of Socialist Core Values" by the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee University Working Committee. In 2017, it was awarded the title of "National Civilized Campus" by the Central Civilization Committee. In the same year, it was awarded as a normal college with public-funded normal student enrollment and training qualifications in Yunnan Province. In 2018, it successfully passed the undergraduate teaching review and evaluation of the Ministry of Education. In the same year, it was approved as the construction unit of the "Yunnan Province Primary and Secondary School Teachers Moral Education Research Center". In 2021, it was selected as one of the two schools in Yunnan Province with local excellent teacher special plan enrollment qualifications. In 2022, the school's "Marxist National Theory Policy and Ideological and Political Education" was selected into the Yunnan Province First-Class Construction Discipline (New Discipline Cultivation Plan). So far, it has trained more than 80,000 graduates for the society. Since the first batch of graduates, the school has won the first prize in the Yunnan Province College Graduate Employment and Entrepreneurship Work Target Responsibility Assessment for twelve consecutive years, and has won the honorary title of "Advanced Collective for College Graduate Employment Work" in Yunnan Province for fourteen consecutive years. The school recruits full-time undergraduate students from 25 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) across the country, and currently has 15,321 full-time undergraduate students. Currently, there are 10 secondary colleges, offering a total of 55 full-time undergraduate majors, including 21 teacher training majors, 1 national characteristic major, 2 national first-class professional construction sites, 11 provincial first-class professional construction sites, 5 provincial advantageous and characteristic majors, and 1 emerging major supported by Yunnan Province for undergraduate colleges and universities; in terms of discipline construction, there is 1 first-class discipline in Yunnan Province (Type B plateau discipline), 1 first-class construction discipline in Yunnan Province, 1 key discipline with advantages and characteristics in Yunnan Province, 3 provincial-level master's degree authorization points for cultivation and construction disciplines, and 8 key disciplines with advantages and characteristics at the school level; in terms of teaching achievements, the school won 1 second prize for national teaching achievements, 1 special prize for provincial teaching achievements, 5 first prizes, and 3 second prizes; it won 335 "undergraduate teaching projects" construction projects in 30 categories and above at the provincial level, and students won 494 national awards and 1,537 provincial awards in various subject and professional competitions; in terms of course construction, there are 7 provincial-level quality courses and 19 provincial-level first-class courses. The school adheres to the concept of strengthening the school with talents, and vigorously introduces high-level talents such as academic leaders, discipline and academic and technical leaders, and doctors. The school currently has 785 faculty members, including 654 full-time teachers, 74 professors, 184 associate professors, and 84 doctors. There are 456 masters, 1 national model teacher, 1 national excellent teacher, 1 "Xingdian Talent" industrial innovation talent, 3 "Xingdian Talent" teaching masters, 4 provincial teaching masters, 3 provincial excellent teachers, 5 Xingdian Talent young talents, 1 provincial outstanding young teacher, 12 provincial academic and technical leaders and reserve talents, 2 provincial outstanding contribution experts, 4 Xingchu science and technology leaders, 10 state-level academic and technical leaders and reserve talents, and 6 people who enjoy special allowances from the State Council and the provincial government. The school's graduate tutor team continues to grow. Since 2013, it has carried out joint graduate training with Yunnan University, Yunnan Normal University, Kunming University of Science and Technology and other universities. Currently, there is 1 doctoral tutor and 47 master tutors, and a total of more than 50 graduate students have been jointly trained. The school actively implements the strategy of developing the school through scientific research, and continuously improves the ability of scientific research to serve the construction of disciplines and majors and the development of local economic and social development. So far, it has presided over and undertaken 67 national science fund projects, more than 200 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, and more than 1,000 other scientific research projects; it has built one Yunnan Provincial Philosophy and Social Sciences Research Base, one Yunnan Provincial Research Base for Strengthening the Consciousness of the Chinese Nation, two Yunnan Provincial Philosophy and Social Sciences Innovation Teams, six Yunnan Provincial Key Laboratories and Engineering Research Centers, five Yunnan Provincial Science and Technology Innovation Teams, one Yunnan Provincial Department of Education Engineering Research Center, three Ministry of Education Key Social Science Base Workstations and Ministry of Education Key Laboratory Research Bases, and 45 school-level scientific research institutions; its scientific research results have won more than 100 awards from provincial and ministerial levels and above, and more than 100 national patents have been authorized; the school has set up academic exchange platforms such as the "Yanfeng Forum" and the "Yanshan Scholars Forum", and hosts or undertakes many influential academic conferences and high-level academic lectures every year. The school has built a "four-in-one" second-class education system, built a "10+1" education auxiliary platform with the theme of "ten ones", created a cultural month activity with a distinct theme, and established various student clubs at the school level. There are currently 48 clubs, and nearly 400 colorful sports and artistic activities with unique characteristics are carried out every year. The school has specially established an innovation and entrepreneurship college and a student employment and entrepreneurship guidance service center, and has built provincial entrepreneurship incubation platforms such as the "College Student Entrepreneurship Park" and the "College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center". In terms of domestic cooperation, it has established cooperative relations with Beijing Normal University, Nanjing University, Southeast University, and Shanghai Institute of Physical Education.
