Chuzhou University is located between Jianghuai in eastern Anhui. Chuzhou City, where the school is located, is the central city of Nanjing Metropolitan Circle and Hefei Economic Circle, and is also one of the core cities of the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta. It is known as the "key to Jinling and the guarantee of Jianghuai". It has beautiful mountains and rivers and rich cultural heritage. Ouyang Xiu of the Northern Song Dynasty left behind the famous "Drunken Pavilion". Xiaogang Village in Fengyang County under its jurisdiction is one of the important birthplaces of China's rural reform. The predecessor of the school was Chuzhou Normal School in Northern Anhui, which was founded in 1950. It has gone through the stages of Chuxian Normal School and Chuxian Teaching Point (branch) of Anhui Normal University; in 1980, it was renamed Chuzhou Normal College, and in 2004, it was upgraded and named Chuzhou University with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In 2014, it was identified as a construction school of "Anhui Provincial Local Applied High-level University". In 2017, it accepted the review and evaluation of undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education in a good state. In 2021, it was listed as a key project construction master's degree awarding unit in Anhui Province.
