Dalian Neusoft University of Information is a private general college of higher learning approved by the Ministry of Education of China and funded by Neusoft. It is mainly engaged in engineering, and disciplines such as engineering, management, art, literature, and medicine support each other and develop in a coordinated manner. The school is located in the beautiful coastal city of Dalian, in the core area of Dalian Software Park. It currently has two campuses, Software Park Campus and Bochuan Campus, with a total area of 833,000 square meters (more than 1,200 acres) and a total construction area of 605,000 square meters. Based on the sustained and rapid development of China's IT industry, the school closely grasps market opportunities, aims at the forefront of industrial development, and focuses on the field of "IT+digital media+health and medical technology". It has built five major professional clusters of computer and software, intelligence and electronics, digital media and design, information and business management, and health and medical technology. It has set up 13 teaching institutions including the School of Computer and Software, the School of Information and Business Management, the School of Intelligence and Electronic Engineering, the School of Digital Art and Design, the School of Foreign Languages, the School of Health and Medical Technology, the College of Higher Vocational Technology, the School of International Education, and the School of Continuing Education, 36 undergraduate majors, and 7 junior college majors. At the school level, undergraduate education is the main focus, supplemented by special vocational education, and continuing education, education for international students, and postgraduate education are vigorously carried out. At the beginning of the school in 2000, the school clearly defined its application-oriented school-running orientation as a service industry and regional economic development. In the 23 years since its establishment, the school has taken "education creates student value" as its concept, closely relying on Neusoft's IT service advantages and Dalian High-tech Zone's industrial advantages, and has built an industry-education integration and application-oriented school-running system, forming a school-enterprise cooperation, collaborative and win-win operation mechanism, creatively proposed and implemented the TOPCARES integrated talent training model throughout the school, and achieved complementary docking of talent training with industry needs and enterprise needs. At present, the school has cumulatively delivered more than 60,000 application-oriented talents to the society, with an employment rate of more than 90% over the years, and the quality of talent training has been widely recognized by employers and all sectors of society. According to the 2023 MyCOS survey, the monthly income of our 2022 undergraduate graduates six months after graduation is 5,989 yuan, 268 yuan higher than that of non-"Double First-Class" undergraduate colleges nationwide; at the same time, the proportion of our 2022 undergraduate graduates who start their own businesses is 2.5%, 1.5% higher than that of undergraduate colleges nationwide.2 percentage points. In 2015, the school became one of the first 10 pilot universities in Liaoning Province to transform into an application-oriented university. In 2017, the school became one of the first 10 demonstration universities in Liaoning Province to transform into an application-oriented university. Since its establishment, the school has won 72 teaching achievement awards at or above the provincial level, including: 1 first prize at the national level and 1 special prize at the provincial level in 2005; 1 second prize at the national level and 2 first prizes at the provincial level in 2009; 4 first prizes at the provincial level for undergraduate teaching achievements in 2013; 1 second prize at the national level and 1 special prize at the provincial level for vocational education in 2018, and 3 first prizes at the provincial level for undergraduate teaching achievements; 2020 undergraduate 1 first prize, 4 second prizes and 4 third prizes in provincial teaching achievement awards; 1 first prize and 4 second prizes in provincial teaching achievement awards for vocational education in 2021; 1 special prize, 3 first prizes and 1 second prize in provincial teaching achievement awards for vocational education in 2022, 2 first prizes, 3 second prizes and 4 third prizes in provincial undergraduate teaching achievement awards; in 2023, it won the first prize of national teaching achievement again, which is the only first prize won by Liaoning Province in the field of vocational education this time. Among the undergraduate majors currently available in the school, there is 1 national undergraduate comprehensive reform pilot major, 14 provincial first-class undergraduate education demonstration majors, 4 provincial comprehensive reform pilot majors, 2 provincial first batch of advantageous and characteristic majors, 4 provincial engineering talent training model reform pilot majors, 2 provincial key support majors, 1 provincial first batch of pilot majors for transformation to application-oriented, 3 provincial first batch of demonstration majors for transformation to application-oriented, 1 undergraduate curriculum system internationalization pilot major, and 5 provincial innovation and entrepreneurship education reform pilot majors. So far, the school has been approved for 7 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites and 8 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites in the selection of national and provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites. The number of national first-class undergraduate major construction sites approved ranks first among private universities in the country. The 15 first-class undergraduate major construction sites cover four disciplines: engineering, management, art, and literature, accounting for 42% of the number of undergraduate majors offered by our school and covering nearly 70% of the number of undergraduate students in our school. In the three-year comprehensive evaluation of undergraduate majors conducted by Liaoning Province for undergraduate colleges and universities across the province from 2012 to 2014, 7 of the 11 majors participating in the school were ranked in the top 3 in the province. Two national first-class undergraduate courses and 116 provincial first-class undergraduate courses were approved. In 2021, it was approved as the first batch of cooperative colleges and universities for the pilot construction project of digital campus of higher education institutions in Liaoning Province and the Ministry of Education's China-foreign cultural exchange all-media industry-education integration project. In 2023, it was selected as the creation unit of Liaoning Province's "Smart Education Demonstration School"; 6 modern industrial colleges of ordinary higher education institutions in Liaoning Province and 2 Xingliao Industrial Colleges of Vocational Education in Liaoning Province were approved. With its inherent industrial genes and innovative consciousness, the school took the lead in establishing the Student Office & Venture Office (SOVO for short, which has been registered as a trademark with the State Administration for Industry and Commerce) in 2002. The school has built a three-tier progressive innovation and entrepreneurship practice platform, created an innovative and entrepreneurial cultural environment that integrates policies, systems, behaviors, and environments, and achieved the integration of innovation and entrepreneurship education with professional education, humanities education, and ideological and political education. Since its establishment, SOVO has incubated more than 7,900 innovation and entrepreneurship projects of various types; established 710 student virtual companies, of which 228 have been registered as physical companies; and more than 100,000 students have participated in various innovation and entrepreneurship activities. The school has been rated by the Ministry of Education as "the first batch of 99 national demonstration universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform", "the first batch of 50 national universities with typical experience in innovation and entrepreneurship", and "the national university practice education innovation and entrepreneurship base", and has been approved as the "national mass innovation space" of the Torch Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the "University Science and Technology Park" of Liaoning Province, the first batch of university student entrepreneurship incubation demonstration bases, the first batch of university student innovation and entrepreneurship education practice bases, and the first batch of university student entrepreneurship project selection and breeding bases and many other honorary qualifications. The school adheres to open education and international cooperation. It has established friendly cooperation relations with more than 120 foreign universities, including the University of Queensland, University of South Australia, San Jose State University, Montclair University, Loughborough University, Nagoya Institute of Technology, Konkuk University, and Russian University of Transport. It has carried out various cooperation programs such as long-term and short-term study abroad, internships and employment abroad, and long-term and short-term study in China. Every year, more than 400 short-term students come to the school, and about 300 students go abroad for study and short-term exchange. Over the years, the school has focused on comprehensive school building.
