Dalian University of Science and Technology is located in the University Town of Dalian Lushun Economic Development Zone at the southernmost tip of the Liaodong Peninsula. Its predecessor was the School of Information Engineering of Dalian Jiaotong University (formerly Dalian Railway University) established in 2002. In 2011, it was approved by the Ministry of Education and was converted into a provincial general undergraduate school.
