Daqing Vocational College is a national model higher vocational college and the only higher vocational college in Heilongjiang Province that features petroleum and petrochemical majors. It was established in 2001 with the approval of the Heilongjiang Provincial People's Government. It was formed by integrating the Daqing Petroleum School founded in 1953, the Daqing Workers' University founded in 1980, and the Daqing Petroleum Technical School (now Daqing Technician College) founded in 1981. In 2011, it was selected as a national model higher vocational college. With the deepening reform of Daqing Oilfield, in 2020, Daqing Vocational College, Iron Man College, Daqing Technician College, PetroChina Daqing Training Center, and Daqing Oilfield Party School will be reorganized and integrated to form an integrated operation and management model. The college is located in Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province, the "Green Petrochemical Capital, Natural City of Hundred Lakes, Hot Spring Town in the North", and "Charming City in China". It is close to Daqing Olympic Park, Daqing Airport, and the entrance to the highway. It has convenient transportation, complete facilities, fresh air, and a pleasant environment. The college currently has three campuses: South Campus, North Campus, and Technical Training Center, with a total area of 5,511 acres, a campus area of 1,887 acres, a building area of 326,600 square meters, and 3 campus forests. The total assets are 203 million yuan, of which the original value of fixed assets is 534 million yuan and the net value is 168 million yuan. The college has 7 teaching departments and 39 higher vocational majors. The higher vocational departments include the Department of Petrochemical Engineering, the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the Department of Computer Engineering, the Department of Economic Management, the Department of Automotive Engineering, the Department of Welding Engineering, and the Department of Public Courses. The college offers 39 higher vocational majors, including petroleum engineering technology, petrochemical technology, mechanical manufacturing and automation, artificial intelligence technical services, accounting, and computer application technology. Among them, there are three national demonstration majors, namely oil and gas extraction technology, petrochemical production technology, and petroleum equipment manufacturing technology. Petroleum engineering technology is a backbone major for the national "double high" construction, and applied chemical technology is a national key major. Advertising design and production, mechatronics technology, computer network technology, and business management are four provincial key majors; it has 197 training bases (rooms), including petroleum engineering training base, modern oil production training base, chemical production training base, SWE training base, Rockwell Automation Laboratory, Internet of Things training base, artificial intelligence training base, and modern intelligent manufacturing comprehensive training base. The college has a "three-teacher" (lecturer + engineer + trainer) teacher team with high professional quality and rich teaching experience, and has been included in the list of typical cases of "double-teacher" teacher team construction in national vocational colleges; the college currently has 245 full-time teachers, 68 part-time teachers on campus, and 28 part-time teachers outside the school. Among the full-time teachers, 54.69% of the full-time teachers have senior professional titles, 67.76% of the full-time teachers have dual-qualified teachers, and 35.1% of the teachers have postgraduate degrees. The college currently has 1 national curriculum ideological and political teaching team and 3 provincial excellent teaching teams. Many people have won the titles of provincial teaching experts, provincial model teachers, provincial excellent teachers, and provincial advanced teachers; there are 28 college-level teaching masters and newcomers. Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, the college has won 31 provincial and ministerial scientific research achievement awards, 10 oilfield company technology innovation awards, 12 technology innovation awards, and 15 authorized patents. The college adheres to the school-running philosophy of "running schools with the spirit of Daqing, educating people with the spirit of Iron Man, and shaping souls with the spirit of craftsmen", the survival philosophy of "taking students (trainees) as the basis, teachers as the soul, and enterprises as the root", the education philosophy of "using heart, emotion, love, and wisdom", the service concept of "thinking what the enterprise thinks, worrying about what the enterprise worries about, and doing what the enterprise needs", and the school motto of "responsibility, real skills, and good habits", providing technical talent support for the revitalization of Longjiang's economy, the high-quality development of oilfield enterprises, and the transformation and upgrading of the Daqing region's economy. In the 69 years since the school was founded, it has trained 170,000 outstanding graduates represented by Li Xinmin, the "New Iron Man of Daqing", and has trained more than 9,700 employees for the oilfield. The employment rate of graduates is over 95%. Many students competed with many 985 and 211 college students in the national skills competition, won gold and silver medals, and achieved excellent results. Outstanding graduates have been employed by Fortune 500 or well-known domestic companies such as PetroChina, Sinopec, CNOOC, Daqing Oilfield, Daqing Refining and Chemical, Baker Hughes, Geely, Volvo, Huawei, Harbin Aircraft Industry, Jilin Petrochemical, Harbin Petrochemical, and Danai. The college has also established close cooperative relations with Daqing Oilfield enterprises, Tencent, China Petroleum Sales Company, National School of Administration, National Open University, Beijing Petroleum Management Cadre College, Northeast Petroleum University, Daqing High-tech Industrial Development Zone, Longfeng District Government of Daqing City, Honggang District Government, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, China Petroleum Education Society, China Chemical Education Association, China Emergency Management Society and other enterprises, colleges, government agencies, and industry associations. It has also jointly carried out distance education for junior colleges, undergraduates, and junior college undergraduates with China University of Petroleum and Northeast University of Finance and Economics. In recent years, the college has made full use of the advantages of enterprise-run schools, adhered to the path of "integration of pre-employment and post-employment", and realized resource sharing between pre-employment academic education and post-employment on-the-job training. The conditions for running schools have continued to improve, the scale of running schools has continued to expand, the influence of running schools has continued to increase, and the vitality, motivation and potential of development have increased year by year. It has achieved a series of "firsts" and "only" in higher vocational colleges across the country, and played a demonstration and leading role. The college has established a QHSE management system and passed the national certification. It has obtained 37 qualifications for running schools at all levels and types such as state organs, ministries and commissions, group companies, provincial departments, local governments and oil fields, and has created a series of cross-enterprise training bases. It has built the first national emergency rescue training and drill base in higher vocational colleges across the country, introduced the only set of simulated production environment (SWE) training system in China from Belgium, built a modern intelligent manufacturing comprehensive training base that connects with Industry 4.0 and incorporates world-class equipment and technology, and built a number of national demonstration training bases such as petrochemicals and petroleum engineering. In the past two years, a series of major qualifications and projects such as the Daqing Certification Base of the National Open University Learning Outcome Certification Center (Petroleum and Petrochemicals), the "Daqing Oilfield Credit Bank", and the Artificial Intelligence College have settled in the college. While doing a good job in higher vocational education, the college has continuously expanded and strengthened post-employment training, and has increased the number of in-service personnel trained for industry enterprises year by year, reaching an annual training volume of more than 70,000 people, exploring a new path in the process of building a modern vocational education system.
