School Profile Dongguan City University is an undergraduate private general college organized by Guangdong Hongfa Investment Group Co., Ltd. Its predecessor was the City College of Dongguan Institute of Technology. It was approved as an independent college by the Ministry of Education in June 2004. In May 2021, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to transfer and renamed Dongguan City College. The school is located next to Songshan Lake Avenue, Liaobu Town, Dongguan City (No. 1 Wenchang Road), with convenient transportation and beautiful environment. The campus is planned to cover an area of 1,228 acres and has a completed construction area of 423,000 square meters. The campus construction attaches importance to ecological environmental protection. Relying on the original natural environment and features, with the design concept of integrating "mountains, water, trees, and people", it cleverly uses the traditional Lingnan architectural elements to achieve a harmonious blend of "people, nature, and architecture", which can be called a Lingnan garden-style institution. The school has 13 teaching units and 46 undergraduate majors; it has established 97 professional laboratories, 218 off-campus teaching practice bases, 24 school-level scientific research institutions, and has established "industry-university-research" relationships with more than 20 scientific research institutes and enterprises. There are more than 23,000 ordinary full-time students. The school has specially established various scholarship programs such as the Hongfa Scholarship and the Inspirational Award. The discipline-based professional school has achieved remarkable results in professional construction, curriculum construction, teaching research, and talent training. The school currently has two provincial key cultivation disciplines, mechanical engineering and business administration, and four school-level key disciplines, software engineering, design, social work, and insurance. The school's accounting major was selected as a national first-class undergraduate major construction site in 2020, and 8 majors, including logistics management, computer science and technology, software engineering, financial management, business administration, insurance, finance, and digital media art, were selected as Guangdong Province's first-class undergraduate major construction sites. Electronic information engineering and accounting construction are provincial applied talent training demonstration majors, and insurance, logistics management, and safety engineering construction are provincial professional comprehensive reform pilots. At the same time, the school currently has provincial specialty projects under construction, such as mechanical design and manufacturing and automation, software engineering, international economics and trade, digital media art, financial management, building electrical and intelligentization, and two provincial key majors under construction, business administration and finance. A total of nine courses in the school have been recognized as provincial first-class courses, two of which are provincial curriculum ideological and political reform demonstration courses. The school actively carries out school-enterprise co-construction and collaborative education. It has co-organized the "Huawei Innovation Class", "Financial Management Excellence Class", "CPA Innovation Class", "Honggao Excellent Engineer Innovation Class", "Mechanical Innovation Class" and other companies with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Xindao Technology Co., Ltd., Guangdong Honggao Construction Group Co., Ltd., and VTech (Dongguan) Electronic Products Co., Ltd., which greatly improved the quality of application-oriented talent training in our school. The scientific research and teaching research school's scientific research capabilities have been improved year by year, and scientific research projects and scientific research results have continued to grow.
