Dongying Vocational College was established in July 2001. It is a full-time college approved by the Shandong Provincial People's Government and organized by the Dongying Municipal People's Government. It is a national "double high plan" construction unit, a national backbone higher vocational college, a Shandong Provincial Demonstration Higher Vocational College, and a Shandong Provincial High-quality Higher Vocational College. It has 9 secondary colleges and currently has more than 19,000 students. The development goal of "creating excellence and upgrading to a university" is clear. The school initiated the establishment of the Petroleum and Petrochemical Equipment and Technology Vocational Education Group, and presided over the construction of the national petrochemical professional teaching resource library. Carrying out the research and development of new technologies for comprehensive application of saline-alkali land, serving national food security, building a modern agricultural industry training base, the salt-alkali tolerant modern agricultural professional group was approved as the "Shandong University Serving the Yellow River Major National Strategic Feature Project", "Knowing Agriculture and Loving Agriculture, Researching and Creating Engineering: Innovation and Practice in Training Salt-alkali Tolerant Garden Technology Talents" won the Shandong Provincial Teaching Achievement Special Award and the National Teaching Achievement Second Prize.
