Fujian Business University is located in Fuzhou, a national historical and cultural city. It is the only provincial public undergraduate college in Fujian Province named after "business". In 2016, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Fujian Business University was established on the basis of the former Fujian Commercial College; in 2017, the former Fujian Vocational and Technical College of Foreign Economics and Trade was merged as a whole. General Secretary Xi Jinping cares about the development of the school's cause. He once wrote an inscription to guide the school to "establish its characteristics and educate people", and sent a congratulatory letter to the school's anniversary. The school has been rated as "the top 50 universities with typical experience in graduate employment in the country", "the advanced unit of social practice for college students in the country", "Fujian Province's 'three-dimensional education' comprehensive reform pilot university", "Fujian Province's college graduate entrepreneurship training base", "Fujian Province's civil servant training base", "Fujian Province's ecological civilization education base", provincial "safe campus", and the first and second "civilized campuses" in Fujian Province. The "Fujian Merchants Cultural Education Base" was selected as the third batch of Fujian Province's Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture Education Bases, the "Political Economics Forum" was selected as the first batch of Fujian Province's "Top Ten Forums" for Philosophy and Social Sciences, the "Fujian Business School Popular Science Education Base" was selected as the Fujian Province's Excellent Popular Science Education Base, and the "Fujian Merchants Research Center" was selected as the first batch of Fuzhou City's Key Social Science Research Bases. [Historical Evolution] The school is a "century-old school" with a profound historical heritage and the connotation of the Fujian Merchants spirit. It originated from the "Fujian Government Commercial School" founded by the modern educator Chen Baochen in 1906 and the "Fuzhou YMCA Academy" founded by the Fujian patriotic overseas Chinese leader Huang Naishang. After a hundred years of spring and autumn, the school has evolved from a modern school to a vocational school, from a key technical secondary school to a demonstration college, and finally entered the ranks of undergraduate colleges. During this period, the school moved and relocated several times, but the spirit of self-reliance and the pulse of Fujian merchants continued. The school motto of "Mingde, Honesty, Ability, and Practice" and the application orientation of "focusing on foundation and strengthening practice" were formed, and more than 100,000 outstanding business talents were cultivated. It is known as the "Cradle of Fujian Merchants" and "Cradle of Foreign Trade". [Discipline and Major] The school has 14 secondary teaching units, and offers 37 undergraduate majors such as accounting, business administration, and international economics and trade. It has formed a discipline and professional system with management and economics as the main subjects, and management, economics, engineering, art, and literature. The disciplines and majors are mutually supported, cross-penetrated, and coordinated. There are currently two provincial-level applied cultivation disciplines, applied economics and business administration, 6 provincial-level first-class undergraduate professional construction points, 1 provincial-level service industry specialty, and 1 provincial-level innovation and entrepreneurship education reform pilot major. 9 professional groups have been built, including Internet economics and trade professional group, digital accounting service professional group, digital business administration professional group, and tourism and catering professional group. There are 12,460 full-time students, including 10,707 undergraduate students. [School Conditions] The school currently has three campuses: Gulou, Lianjiang, and Mawei, covering an area of more than 1,451 acres and a building area of 346,300 square meters, of which 169,100 square meters are for teaching and administrative use. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 91.9 million yuan, there are 131 on-campus experimental (training) rooms, 201 on-campus and off-campus practical teaching bases, and 3 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers. It has 1.4787 million paper books, 1.4035 million electronic books, and 225,500 electronic journals. A 10G dual-core backbone line and Gigabit to the desktop have been built to achieve a high-speed network infrastructure with one network for multiple campuses. [Faculty] The school currently has 595 full-time teachers. 245 full-time teachers have senior professional titles, accounting for 41.18%; 547 have doctoral and master's degrees, accounting for 91.93%; 293 dual-qualified and dual-capable teachers, accounting for 49.24%; and 26 part-time master and doctoral tutors outside the school. There is currently one expert enjoying special allowance from the State Council, two candidates for the "Fujian Province Hundred Thousand Talents Project", two Fujian Arts and Crafts Masters, nine high-level talents in Fujian Province, three new century outstanding talents in Fujian universities, three candidates for the Fujian Province Outstanding Young Scientific Research Talent Cultivation Program, and two candidates for the Fujian Province Education High-level Talent and Young Outstanding Talent Support Project. The school has won two provincial undergraduate teaching teams, two provincial ideological and political teaching teachers and teams, and one provincial ideological and political teaching and research team in universities. Teachers have won 12 awards, including the first prize in the national ideological and political theory teaching demonstration activities, the first prize in the provincial young teachers teaching competition, and the second prize in the provincial teachers teaching innovation competition; as a member of the coaching staff of the national men's blind football team, they won the 4th Hangzhou Asian Para Games, the World Cup runner-up, and the Asian and Grand Championships. 【Teaching Achievements】The school has been approved by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council for 1 "Overseas Huiqiao Project Chinese Food Prosperity Base" project, 37 industry-university cooperation and collaborative education projects of the Ministry of Education, 5 provincial teaching achievement awards, 40 provincial first-class undergraduate courses, 28 provincial education reform projects (including 11 major projects), 3 provincial new liberal arts and new engineering research and reform practice projects, 3 provincial curriculum ideological and political demonstration course projects, 4 provincial "ideological and political courses" and "curriculum ideological and political" education and teaching reform quality projects, 4 provincial college ideological and political work quality projects, 22 Fujian college ideological and political courses quality projects, 6 1+X certificate system pilots, and 2 China College Industry-University-Research Innovation Fund projects. 【Scientific Research】The school has 19 scientific research platforms of various levels and types, including the Fujian College Engineering Research Center, College Humanities and Social Sciences Research Base, Fujian Collaborative Innovation Center, Fujian New Think Tank, and 15 innovation teams; and jointly established the "Fujian Business School Research Center for Economic System Reform in Fujian Province" with the Office of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China for Comprehensively Deepening Reform. Since 2020, 136 scientific research projects at the provincial and ministerial levels or above have been approved, including 6 national projects (including 2 from the Ministry of Education), and 41 horizontal scientific research projects have been undertaken. 19 research reports (decision-making suggestions) have been approved by provincial leaders; the interim results of 13 research reports have been accepted and published by provincial internal journals; 18 theoretical articles have been published by mainstream media at the provincial level and above, such as Guangming Daily and Fujian Daily. 102 types of intellectual property rights such as authorized patents have been obtained. Since the upgrade to a university, scientific research results have won 1 provincial science and technology progress award, 5 provincial social science achievement awards, and 2 provincial natural science outstanding paper awards. Published the academic journal "Journal of Fujian University of Business". [Open Education] The school attaches importance to open education and leverages development. Strengthen school-to-school cooperation and carry out strategic cooperation with universities such as Fujian Normal University and Fujian University of Technology. Deepen school-enterprise cooperation, and jointly build JD Smart Supply Chain Industry College, Newland Digital Business Industry College, and Juchunyuan Cooking College with JD.com, Newland, and Juchunyuan Group, and create a number of characteristic industrial college models with industry-education integration and collaborative education leading effects. Closely cooperate with the school and the local government, and carry out close cooperation with the Reform Office of the Fujian Provincial Party Committee, the Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce, Mawei District, and Lianjiang County. Serve the integrated development of Fujian and Taiwan, and jointly carry out teaching workshops with Taiwan's Yuda University of Science and Technology to highlight the "double-literacy" education characteristics; serve the "Belt and Road" initiative, actively integrate into the "China-South Pacific Island Countries Poverty Reduction and Development Cooperation Center" project, realize one-stop services for enrollment, training, and employment, recruit Papua New Guinea international students (academic education), and recruit a new batch of undergraduate international students from South Pacific island countries who have received the Fujian Governor's Scholarship in 2023; cooperate with overseas universities and institutions such as the University of Applied Sciences North Hessen in Germany, the College of the North Atlantic in Canada, the University of Arad Aurele Fraicu in Romania, and the Italian Trade Commission to strengthen the mutual recognition of professional courses, students' overseas studies, and exchanges and visits. As a "Fujian Province unit with good reputation for inviting foreigners to China for science, education, culture and sports", the school was invited to attend the forum and give a report on internationalized schooling. [Effects of training] The school adheres to the principle of cultivating people with moral integrity and promoting the all-round development of students. For eight consecutive sessions, students have achieved excellent results in the "One 'Ma' Leading" knowledge competition for the study of Marxist theory in the undergraduate group of colleges and universities in Fujian Province, winning the first prize for the group once, the second prize once, the third prize twice, and the winning prize once, and the individual first prize three times, the third prize six times, and the winning prize seven times. In the past three years, it has won 538 awards in various innovation, entrepreneurship and subject skills competitions (127 at the national level and 411 at the provincial level), and one student was named an outstanding member of the Communist Youth League of China. In the past three years, the average enrollment rate of undergraduate freshmen has reached 98%; the pass rate of College English Test Band 4 and Band 6 has steadily increased. The pass rates of College English Test Band 4 and Band 6 for the graduates of the class of 2023 are 64.54% and 19.16% respectively, and the number of postgraduate students has increased significantly year by year. The year-end employment rates of undergraduate graduates in 2021, 2022, and 2023 reached 86.47%, 91.39%, and 94.38%, respectively, all exceeding the average level of colleges and universities in the region. The school made an experience exchange speech at the provincial 2023 general college graduate employment and entrepreneurship promotion meeting.
