History and Positioning of the School Fujian Sports Vocational and Technical College was established in 2005 with the approval of the Fujian Provincial People's Government. It is under the jurisdiction of the Fujian Provincial Sports Bureau and its teaching business is guided and managed by the Fujian Provincial Department of Education. It is the only provincial public sports higher vocational college in Fujian Province, responsible for cultivating high-quality technical and skilled personnel for the sports industry and health service industry. The school is located in Gulou District, Fuzhou City, adjacent to the Provincial Olympic Sports Center. Its predecessor was the Fujian Provincial Sports Brigade and other units established in 1957. The school is the deputy director unit of the National Sports Vocational Education and Teaching Steering Committee, and undertakes the daily work of the Secretariat of the National Sports Vocational Education and Teaching Steering Committee; it is a training base for sports coaches, social sports instructors, sports teachers in traditional sports schools, and a national junior coach job training examination site. The Fujian Provincial Sports Industry Special Occupational Skills Appraisal Station relies on the school to carry out its work. The school has a beautiful environment and has 13 first-class professional sports venues in China, including standard athletic fields, badminton halls, table tennis halls, basketball halls, volleyball halls, and martial arts halls, as well as modern teaching facilities such as multimedia classrooms, computer rooms, voice rooms, laboratories, libraries, multi-functional lecture halls, and physical training centers. The school conditions have reached the leading level of similar domestic institutions and meet the needs of professional training and vocational education. The school has 7 teaching units, including the Department of Sports, the Department of Social Sports, the Department of Sports Management, the Department of Sports Health, the School of Marxism, the Department of Public Basic Courses, and the Department of Continuing Education. There are more than 4,900 full-time students. There are 12 majors, including sports training, social sports, fitness guidance and management, leisure sports, sports operations and management, golf sports and management, sports health and rehabilitation, rehabilitation therapy technology, physical education, sports data analysis, physical training and sports health guidance, as well as outdoor sports, swimming guidance and rescue, marine sports, Yongchun White Crane Boxing and other professional directions. The school has 6 five-year sports training professional teaching sites in Sanming, Zhangzhou and other places. In 2021, it cooperated with Xiamen Sports Industry Group to build Xiamen Maritime Sports College (secondary college, located in Huli District, Xiamen City). The school and the People's Government of Yongchun County plan to cooperate in the construction of Yongchun White Crane Fist College (secondary college, located in Yongchun County), which has been approved. Teachers The school currently has more than 240 faculty and staff. There are 1 deputy director and 1 deputy secretary-general of the National Sports Vocational Education and Teaching Steering Committee, 1 provincial teaching master, 3 provincial outstanding teachers, 1 provincial professional leader, 1 candidate for the "Hundred Talents Program for Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Professional and Technical Talents" of the State General Administration of Sports, 2 provincial entrepreneurial mentors, and more than 10 teachers who have won national and above sports championships. There is one provincial first batch of teacher teaching innovation teams and 3 college-level sports skills master studios. Many teachers have work experience in refereeing, training guidance, and sports promotion in foreign countries. Teachers have won many awards in teaching skill competitions, such as the National Higher Sports Vocational Education Teacher Skills Competition and the Fujian Vocational College Teacher Teaching Ability Competition. In combination with professional construction, the school has also hired a group of high-level professional talents such as national coaches and world champions as part-time teachers, and the overall level of the teaching staff has been continuously improved. The students have solid professional skills and have won 7 first prizes, 19 second prizes and 18 individual first prizes in the National Higher Sports Vocational Education Student Skills Competition. The comprehensive results are at the leading level among similar colleges and universities in the country. The enrollment quality is high, and the comprehensive admission score in recent years has been significantly higher than the control line of similar undergraduates. The employment status of students is good, and the employment rate is significantly higher than the average employment rate of college graduates in our province. Graduates have become the main force in the development of the sports service industry in our province. The school of teaching, research and scientific research takes the role of the deputy director unit of the National Sports Vocational Education and Teaching Steering Committee and the stationed unit of the secretariat as a platform to actively carry out teaching, research and scientific research work in sports vocational education, and has played an important demonstration and leading role in the reform of national sports vocational education and teaching, scientific research and innovation. In particular, it was entrusted by the National Sports Vocational Education and Teaching Steering Committee to take the lead in revising (formulating) the professional teaching standards and professional profiles of higher vocational schools of the Ministry of Education, and presided over the revision (formulation) of the professional profiles and professional teaching standards of 7 of the 16 majors in higher vocational sports, and organized the completion of the development of professional skill level standards such as physical training guidance and sports rehabilitation guidance in sports industry vocational education. Taking the "Athletes' Career Guidance Studio" as a platform, the school is the first in the country to carry out the "Star Plan", an athlete career transformation project, to carry out vocational training for retired athletes across the country and promote the career transformation of athletes.
