The School of Information Engineering of Fuyang Normal University is an independent college at the undergraduate level approved by the Anhui Provincial Government in 2003 and confirmed by the Ministry of Education in 2004. The college is located on the banks of the Xiqing River in Fuyang City. The Xiqing River runs through it, with willows hanging low, birds singing and flowers blooming, and a pleasant environment. It is a cradle for cultivating high-quality applied talents at the undergraduate level who combine economics, science, literature, engineering and art. Relying on the comprehensive advantages of its parent school, Fuyang Normal University, the School of Information Engineering sets up majors according to the development trend of modern science and technology and the needs of local economic and social development. The college currently has 6 departments, including the Department of Journalism and Media, the Department of Economics and Management, the Department of Information Science, the Department of Foreign Languages, the Department of Food and the Department of Design and Art, with a total of 29 majors, more than 500 full-time and part-time teachers, and recruits students from many provinces such as Anhui, Jiangsu, Henan, Hebei, Fujian, Hubei, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, etc., with more than 7,500 students on campus. The college covers an area of 37hm2, with 15.8hm2 of teaching and living space, a total value of more than 50 million yuan for teaching and scientific research equipment, more than 655,100 books of various types, and 33 Chinese and foreign network resource databases such as the China Journal Full-text Database and the Super Star Digital Library. In the past two decades, the college has pioneered and innovated, seized opportunities, exerted its advantages, highlighted its characteristics, deepened various reforms, and initially explored a school-running path with college characteristics in practice, winning wide social recognition, praise and support. The college passed the undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation of the Ministry of Education in 2005; in July 2010, the college was awarded the honorary title of "National Advanced Independent College"; since 2011, it has successively cooperated with universities such as Woosong University in South Korea, Imabari Meitoku Junior College in Japan, Chaoyang University of Technology in Taiwan, and Salisbury University in the United States to run schools; in 2012, it was approved by the Provincial Degree Office as a bachelor's degree-granting institution; in June 2019, the school was renamed the School of Information Engineering, Fuyang Normal University; since 2020, the Ministry of Education has accelerated the process of the transformation of independent colleges across the country. On June 4, 2021, the Development Planning Department of the Ministry of Education issued a public announcement, proposing to approve the transformation of the School of Information Engineering of Fuyang Normal University into Fuyang Institute of Technology. In the nearly 20 years since the school was founded, the teaching and scientific research development of the college has shown a continuous upward trend. In the past five years, the college has been approved for more than 100 provincial teaching quality engineering projects, more than 10 provincial teaching teams, more than 10 demonstration experimental training centers, and more than 30 high-quality courses. It has presided over more than 60 scientific research vertical projects at the provincial level and above, published more than 40 books and textbooks, published more than 400 academic papers, and obtained more than 70 patent authorizations. The college has always practiced the school motto of "Mingde, Motivation, Truth-seeking, and Learning", created a good school spirit and style of study, and focused on cultivating students' innovative spirit and social practice ability, establishing morality and cultivating people, serving the society, and cultivating talents with fruitful results. Zhao Yu, a 2018 engineering cost major, and Zhao Xinyu, a 2017 engineering cost major, were awarded the title of "Anhui Province Top 100 College Students" in 2020; Zhao Yu was awarded the "China College Student Self-improvement Star" in 2020, and Liu Chenxi was awarded the "China College Student Self-improvement Star" in 2021. The Youth League branch of the College Student Union won the national "University Vitality Youth League Branch" in the 2020-2021 academic year. It has achieved remarkable results in various competitions at all levels, including the National College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition, the National Normal Student Skills Competition, the College Student English Competition, and the "Freescale Cup" National College Student Smart Car Competition, and has won more than 1,000 awards at the provincial level and above. Among them, in 2021, it won the first prize of the "Leica Cup" National College Students Metallographic Skills Competition, the third prize of the 14th National College Students Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Social Practice and Science and Technology Competition, and the third prize of the 12th Blue Bridge Cup National Software and Information Technology Professional Talent Competition in 2021. The first prize of the 2020 Anhui Provincial College Students Environmental Design Competition, the first prize of the 2020 Anhui Provincial Robot Competition-Service Robot First Prize. The college has a strong academic atmosphere and is positive, and students' enthusiasm for postgraduate entrance examinations has increased year by year. In 2020, Wei Qingqing, who was admitted to the postgraduate program of law at Peking University, and the five male gods of the "Best Dormitory of the Food Department" reached a new height in their dream of postgraduate entrance examinations. In 2021, a total of more than 100 students from the college were admitted to graduate schools of universities such as Hefei University of Technology, Anhui University, Ningbo University, and Henan University. In the past three years, the college has more than 500 students who have been admitted to master's and doctoral programs, providing a large number of excellent high-level application-oriented talents for all walks of life in society.
