Fuzhou Institute of Technology is a full-time general undergraduate school approved by the Ministry of Education of China. It was founded by Guomai Technology Co., Ltd., a high-tech listed company. The school was formerly Fuzhou Strait Vocational and Technical College, which was founded in 2004. It was upgraded to a general undergraduate college with the approval of the Ministry of Education in 2015 and successfully passed the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment in 2023. Since its establishment, the school has fully implemented the party's education policy, adhered to the socialist direction of running schools, adapted to the development of higher education and regional economic and social development in the new era, adhered to the "local, application-oriented" school-running positioning, and strived to cultivate engineers and management talents with social responsibility, scientific and technological innovation spirit and industrial service capabilities, and comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor. The school is a "pilot project for the transformation of general undergraduate colleges to application-oriented colleges" recognized by the Fujian Provincial Department of Education. In the practice of running schools, the school has always adhered to the development path of industry-education integration and school-enterprise cooperation, accurately connected with the needs of industrial and regional economic development, innovated the system and mechanism of industry-education integration and school-enterprise cooperation, and created a "three-creation industry-education integration science and technology park" industry-university-research-application platform with the school as the main body, the enterprise as the core, and the government as the support, and established an applied science research and development model of "scientific and technological innovation + high-end manufacturing", and formed a "lecturer + engineer + technical shareholder" teaching and research innovation team to achieve the deep integration of schools and enterprises, enhance the school's ability to serve the society, and form a distinctive industry-education integration feature. Disciplines and majors: The school actively builds an application-oriented discipline and professional system with local and industry characteristics, with engineering as the main subject, coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as science, economics, management, medicine, and art. There are 6 secondary teaching units, including the School of Computing and Information Science, the School of Civil Engineering, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Media and Arts, the School of Nursing, and the School of Marxism, with 31 undergraduate majors and more than 11,600 students. There are 1 provincial modern industrial college, 2 provincial applied disciplines, 4 provincial first-class undergraduate professional construction sites, 2 provincial service industry specialty majors, 1 provincial demonstrative applied professional group, and 4 provincial college innovation and entrepreneurship education reform pilot majors. In 2019, it passed the bachelor's degree granting unit authorization review, and there are currently 27 undergraduate majors that have passed the bachelor's degree granting professional authorization review. Faculty: The school implements the "talent-strengthening school" strategy, focuses on key links such as talent attraction, talent cultivation, talent use, and talent retention, and builds a high-level faculty team with high starting point, high standards, and high investment. There are nearly 800 full-time and part-time teachers, 76.6% of whom have a master's degree or above, and 45.92% of teachers have senior professional titles. There are 22 provincial first-class courses, 1 employment and entrepreneurship gold course, 1 provincial ideological and political demonstration course, 3 provincial quality resource sharing courses, 1 provincial undergraduate teaching team, 1 provincial ideological and political teaching team, and 1 provincial innovation and entrepreneurship school-based textbook. It has been approved by the Ministry of Education for 29 industry-university cooperation and collaborative education projects, 5 provincial new engineering research and practice projects, 2 provincial new liberal arts research and practice projects, and 35 provincial higher education teaching reform research projects. It has built 1 provincial key laboratory, 3 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, and 2 provincial virtual simulation experimental teaching centers. It has won 3 provincial higher education teaching achievement awards. The school has carried out 262 horizontal projects with enterprises and institutions, authorized 377 intellectual property rights of various types, and 16 achievement transformation projects. Ecological campus: The school is located in Lianjiang County, Fuzhou City, which is known as the "Golden Phoenix of Mindu", and is adjacent to the beautiful national 4A-level scenic spot-Gui'an Hot Spring Leisure Tourism Resort. The campus covers an area of more than 1,347.85 acres, and the current building area of the school is more than 354,000 square meters. The school has complete facilities and a complete safety guarantee system. The school plans to acquire 240.33 acres of new land for the second phase of construction, which has been approved by the local government. It is expected to invest 550 million yuan to implement the project construction.
