Fuzhou University Zhicheng College was approved by the Ministry of Education of China. In July 2003, it was established by Fuzhou University, a national "double first-class" construction university, a national "211 Project" key construction university, a university jointly built by the Fujian Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Education of China, and a university jointly built by the Fujian Provincial People's Government and the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense. It operates according to new mechanisms and new models and implements full-time undergraduate education. The college firmly grasps the socialist direction of running schools, follows the spirit of the school motto of "Mingde erxue erxue yu yu su", focuses on the school-running positioning of applied universities, pays attention to cultivating students' scientific spirit and humanistic qualities, and cultivates socialist builders and successors with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor. Adhering to the guidance of improving the ability to serve regional and industry needs, the college has focused on building a "three-in-one" foundation for the construction of applied universities from the three aspects of faculty, talent training, and platform building, and strives to build a high-level applied university with engineering as the main focus, distinctive and influential, and create a cradle for the training of engineering talents in Fujian Province. The college currently has 17 teaching units and 38 undergraduate majors. The disciplines and majors cover the leading industries of economic and social development, strategic emerging industries and traditional industries. It has developed into an application-oriented comprehensive university with engineering as the main subject and coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as science, engineering, economics, management, literature and art. The number of students on campus is nearly 14,000. The college shares the high-quality teacher resources of Fuzhou University, and has built an innovative teaching staff structure with "Fuzhou University teachers and its own teachers as the main force, and dual-qualified and dual-capable teachers as the main force", and has built a "dual-qualified and dual-capable" teaching staff with both teacher and engineer qualifications, teaching ability and professional practice ability. In the past five years, teachers of the college have been approved for 1 key project of the National Social Science Fund, 1 Chinese Academic Translation Project of the National Social Science Fund, 4 National Natural Science Youth Fund Projects, and 1 special project for the research of teachers of ideological and political theory courses in colleges and universities of the Ministry of Education. In the past five years, students have been approved for more than 40 national-level innovation and entrepreneurship training projects for college students and more than 100 provincial-level innovation and entrepreneurship training programs for college students. At present, the college has 6 provincial first-class undergraduate majors, 3 provincial applied disciplines, 4 provincial characteristic majors, 3 provincial service industry characteristic majors, 4 provincial innovation and entrepreneurship education reform pilot majors, 1 provincial demonstrative applied professional group, 7 provincial application-oriented pilot professional groups, 3 provincial talent training model innovation experimental areas, 4 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 2 provincial virtual simulation experimental teaching centers, 2 provincial college students’ off-campus practice bases, 3 provincial teaching teams, 1 provincial key education and teaching reform research project, 8 provincial major education and teaching reform research projects, 27 provincial general education and teaching reform research projects, 3 provincial new engineering research and reform practice projects, 1 provincial new liberal arts research and reform practice project, 4 provincial undergraduate colleges and universities “comprehensive reform pilot” projects, 15 provincial first-class undergraduate courses, 6 provincial quality courses, 6 provincial quality resource sharing courses, 2 provincial quality online open courses, 1 provincial ideological and political demonstration course, and 2 provincial education and teaching reform quality projects of “Telling Chinese Stories Well and Teaching Good Ideological and Political Courses”. The college continuously strengthens cooperation and exchanges with high-level universities abroad, establishes a teaching and scientific research cooperation platform, jointly carries out talent training and scientific research, and improves the level of cooperative education. It implements mutual recognition of credits and courses with 13 universities in the United States, Germany, Canada, Britain, Japan, Australia and other places, and jointly implements the "2+2", "1+3", and "3+1+1" joint training models. In terms of cooperation between Fujian and Taiwan, it has established a joint school relationship with 4 universities in Taiwan, and carried out in-depth teacher visits, student exchanges, and scientific research cooperation.
