The School of Science and Technology of Gannan Normal University is a full-time general college (national standard code for colleges: 13439) approved by the Ministry of Education of China and the People's Government of Jiangxi Province to implement undergraduate education. It is an independent college organized by Gannan Normal University. In the past 20 years, adhering to the school-running tradition of Gannan Normal University of "taking root in red soil and educating people with concentration", adhering to the school-running positioning of "carrying forward the spirit of the Soviet area and cultivating applied talents for local economic and social development", it has achieved fruitful results. The college has successively won honors such as the provincial model school for school governance according to law, the provincial advanced collective for ideological and political education work in colleges and universities, and the provincial outstanding unit for employment of college graduates. The college is located in the central urban area of Ganzhou, a national historical and cultural city, a sub-central city of Jiangxi Province, and enjoys the reputation of "Jiangnan Song City", "Hakka Cradle" and "Red Capital". The campus environment is beautiful, the cultural heritage is profound, and the teaching facilities are complete. It has 8 teaching departments (divisions) and 25 undergraduate majors, covering 9 disciplines including law, literature, history, science, engineering, economics, management, education, and art. It recruits students from 13 provinces and cities across the country, and currently has more than 5,000 full-time students. The college currently has more than 300 full-time and part-time teachers, more than 40% of whom have senior professional titles, and 90% have master's degrees or above, forming a teaching staff with a reasonable structure and excellent teaching level. The vast majority of teachers love their jobs and teach and educate people, and a number of advanced models have emerged, including "New Era Ganpo Pioneer" in Jiangxi Province, "Gold Medal Teachers" in Jiangxi Colleges and Universities, and the first batch of "Good Teachers in the Hearts of New Era Students" in Jiangxi Province, and "Excellent Party Members in the Province". After 20 years of schooling, the college's discipline and professional construction has achieved remarkable results. In the second round of comprehensive professional evaluation in Jiangxi Province in 2022, 16 majors of the college participated in the evaluation, and all majors ranked among the top three independent colleges in the province (including those that have been transferred), of which 7 majors ranked first and 6 majors ranked second; among all undergraduate colleges in the province, the college has 2 majors ranked in the top 30% and 4 majors ranked in the top 50%. The school's quality of education and social reputation have been steadily improved. In the past three years, students have won many awards in provincial and above subject competitions, with more than 1,000 people winning awards, including more than 50 people who won first prizes in national competitions such as the National Mathematical Modeling Competition, the "Challenge Cup" National College Students' Extracurricular Academic and Scientific Works Competition, the National College Students' English Competition, and the National College Language and Character Basic Skills Competition. The number and level of awards are among the best in similar colleges in the province. The college was selected by Wu Shulian of the Chinese Academy of Management Sciences in the "2022 China High-level Independent College Ranking" (ranked 8th) and ranked 32nd in the "National 396 Private Universities and Independent Colleges Graduate Quality Ranking".
