Gansu Mechanical and Electrical Vocational and Technical College is located in Tianshui City, Gansu Province, a national historical and cultural city known as the "Little Jiangnan on Longshang". It is a general higher vocational college with mechanical and electrical majors as its characteristics, and coordinated development of engineering, business and management. In 1973, with the strategic needs of the country's "Third Line" construction, the school was established in Tianshui, an important industrial city in the northwest. In 2009, with the approval of the Gansu Provincial People's Government, the school was restructured into Gansu Mechanical and Electrical Vocational and Technical College and upgraded to a full-time general higher vocational college. In 2011, with the approval of the Gansu Provincial People's Government, Gansu Equipment Manufacturing Technician College was established, and the management and operation system of "one team, two brands" was implemented with Gansu Mechanical and Electrical Vocational and Technical College. After years of hard work, the school has now formed a diversified school-running pattern of "taking higher vocational education as the main body, technician education as the support, and undergraduate education as the extension", cultivating multi-level high-quality technical and skilled talents from secondary vocational education to higher vocational education, and from technicians to technicians. The school covers an area of 669 acres and a building area of 290,100 square meters. It has a total value of 105.9 million yuan in teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment, and an average value of 10,500 yuan per student in teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment. There are 11,298 full-time ordinary higher vocational students, 1,184 students in the technician college, and 492 adult undergraduate and junior college students. Among them, the CNC technology production training base is listed as a national-level production training base; it has built more than 60 professional training laboratories of various types, among which the intelligent manufacturing virtual simulation training base was selected as the "Ministry of Education Vocational Education Demonstration Cultivation Unit", and 15 training laboratories such as 3D Printing Experience Center, Reverse Engineering Center, CNC multi-axis machining simulation, and industrial robots are in a leading position in the province; it has successively taken the lead in establishing the Gansu Electromechanical Vocational Education Group, Gansu Intelligent Manufacturing Vocational Education Group, Mechanical Industry Intelligent Equipment Manufacturing (Northwest) Vocational Education Group and Tianshui Equipment Manufacturing Vocational Education Group. In 2021, the Gansu Intelligent Manufacturing Vocational Education Group was successfully selected as the "Second Batch of National Demonstration Vocational Education Group (Alliance) Cultivation Unit". The school currently has six major professional groups, including mechanical manufacturing and automation, electrical automation technology, intelligent control and manufacturing, vehicle application and service, information technology service, and manufacturing supply chain management. It has opened 40 higher vocational majors, among which the mold design and manufacturing major has been successfully selected as a national key major; the electrical automation major group has been successfully selected into the "Gansu Province High-level Higher Vocational School and Professional Group Construction Plan"; electrical automation technology and mechatronics majors have been identified as provincial key majors. In 2019, the "Gansu Province 3D Printing Application Technology Collaborative Innovation Center" led by the school was successfully selected as a national collaborative innovation center; the "Artificial Intelligence Application Technology Collaborative Innovation Center" was successfully selected as a provincial collaborative innovation center. In recent years, the school has made continuous progress and breakthroughs in scientific research results, with a total of 60 scientific research projects at the department level and above, and has established scientific and technological innovation cooperation relationships with dozens of large and medium-sized enterprises and scientific research institutes inside and outside the province, and took the lead in establishing the Tianshui Collaborative Science and Technology Innovation Research Institute.
