Guangdong Baiyun University was founded in 1989 and is a full-time general undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education. In 2009, it passed the bachelor's degree awarding institution authorization point review, in 2011 it passed the undergraduate teaching work qualification assessment of the Ministry of Education, and in 2018 it accepted the undergraduate teaching work review and assessment of the Ministry of Education. In 2023, it will recruit students from 15 provinces (autonomous regions) including Guangdong, Hunan, Hubei, Guangxi, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Hainan, Jiangsu, Guizhou, Anhui, Xinjiang, Hebei, and Shandong.
