Guangdong Environmental Protection Engineering Vocational College (hereinafter referred to as the school) is a full-time public higher vocational college established in February 2010 with the approval of the Guangdong Provincial People's Government. It is mainly characterized by cultivating high-quality technical and skilled talents in green and low-carbon, ecological environment, energy conservation and safety and other related industries. It is affiliated to the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education. The school was established on the basis of Guangdong Provincial Environmental Protection Vocational and Technical School (founded in 1978). In 2013, the school and Guangdong Provincial Environmental Protection Vocational and Technical School were independently run. In 2021, the school and Guangdong Provincial Environmental Protection Vocational and Technical School implemented group schooling. The school currently has two campuses in Foshan and Guangzhou, with more than 13,000 students and more than 720 faculty and staff. The school has a beautiful environment and complete teaching and living facilities. It is a demonstration base of the United Nations Development Program-China Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Hydrogen Economy Vocational College Project, a national environmental protection training base, a national second batch of energy-saving public institutions demonstration units, the second batch of modern apprenticeship pilot units of the Ministry of Education, Guangdong Province Provincial High-level Vocational College Construction Unit, Guangdong Province University Energy Conservation Demonstration Unit, Guangdong Province Green School, Guangdong Province Water-saving School, Guangdong Province Environmental Education Base, Guangdong Province Popular Science Education Base, Guangdong Province Vocational College Cultural Quality Education Base, Guangdong Province Ecological Civilization Popularization Education and Innovation Research Base, and was awarded 2 national university party building model party branches, 2 provincial party building benchmark colleges, 3 provincial party building model party branches, Guangdong University of "three types" party branches, Guangdong Province Education System Advanced Grassroots Party Organization 1, approved to establish a Guangdong Provincial Doctoral Workstation. The school focuses on the characteristics of ecological environmental protection and service regional industrial development requirements, and has the School of Environmental Engineering, the School of Environmental Monitoring, the School of Environmental Management and Big Data, the School of Human Settlements, the School of Energy Conservation and Safety, the School of Advanced Manufacturing, the School of Food and Health, and the Department of Secondary Vocational Education. In accordance with the concept of full-process management of environmental protection, a professional system covering all aspects from clean production at the source to the intermediate circular economy, and then to the terminal engineering governance and its extended majors has been established. The school has always taken professional construction as a guide to improve the school-running level, and has built 3 backbone majors of the Ministry of Education, 4 provincial high-level professional group construction projects, 2 provincial first-class brand majors, and 3 provincial second-class brand majors. There are 2 central finance-supported professional service industry development capacity construction projects, 1 national public training center for environmental protection majors, 1 national public training center for energy-saving majors, 1 national environmental monitoring and evaluation training base, 1 collaborative innovation center of the Ministry of Education, 2 provincial collaborative innovation centers, 2 provincial public training centers, and 4 provincial boutique online open courses. The school has won 2 national teaching achievement awards and 4 Guangdong Provincial Education and Teaching Achievement Awards. It serves as the leader of the "Environmental Protection" major in the revision (formulation) of the national vocational education professional catalog. It is the deputy director unit of the National Ecological Environment Industry Steering Committee and the chairman unit of the Provincial Higher Vocational College Resource Environment and Energy Materials Professional Teaching Steering Committee. The influence of the environmental protection industry and higher vocational education continues to increase. According to Jinpingguo's 2023 Higher Vocational Professional Competitiveness Ranking, the school has 2 majors ranked first in the country, 5 majors ranked second in the country, and 4 majors ranked third in the country.
