Guangdong Post and Telecommunications Vocational and Technical College (hereinafter referred to as "the school") was founded on November 22, 1949. Its predecessor was the Guangdong Post and Telecommunications School, which was known as the "Guangdong Post and Telecommunications Huangpu Military Academy". In 2002, it was approved by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government and upgraded to a general higher vocational college. It is the only public full-time communications higher vocational college in Guangdong Province, a provincial high-level higher vocational college cultivation unit, and was selected as the first batch of vocational college principal training bases by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Education's vocational education "dual-qualified" teacher training base, the national postal industry training base and other national training bases. It is one of the first modern apprenticeship training bases in the country. The school is a pilot unit of the vocational education system, the chairman unit of the Guangdong Vocational College Continuing Education and Vocational Training Work Steering Committee, the first batch of recommended vocational skills training online platform institutions in Guangdong Province, the founding unit of the China Communications Service Vocational Education Alliance, the leading institution of the Guangdong Communications Vocational Education Group (National Demonstration Vocational Education Group (Alliance)), and the leading unit of the Vocational College Training Alliance. It has won the titles of National Skilled Talent Cultivation Outstanding Contribution Unit, the First National Top 50 Higher Vocational Colleges Service Contribution, the First National Top 50 Higher Vocational Colleges Education Effectiveness, and Guangzhou Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Incubation) Demonstration Base. The school is divided into two campuses in Guangzhou and Jiangmen, with more than 650 faculty and staff and 9,547 students. The total campus area is 460 acres, of which the headquarters is located in the Tianhe University Cultural District in Guangzhou, with a campus area of 160 acres; the Jiangmen campus is located in the Talent Island of Pengjiang District, Jiangmen City, with a campus area of 300 acres; the school has modern teaching and scientific research equipment and advanced network system platforms synchronized with information and communication industry enterprises, as well as complete training, teaching, experiments, practical training, meetings, accommodation, culture and sports and other software and hardware resources. Relying on the information and communication industry, the school takes "cultivating communication talents, enhancing customer value, and serving lifelong education" as its mission, strengthens and optimizes academic education, strengthens and expands on-the-job training, and builds a diversified school-running model based on academic education and supported by on-the-job training, and gradually builds a high-quality technical and skilled talent training base integrating education, training, service, and research and development, and a new highland for training services for lifelong education of in-service personnel. Academic education takes the new generation of information technology professional groups as the core, and develops in a multi-disciplinary manner such as economics, management, literature, and science. It has seven colleges and 20 majors. The school deepens the school-enterprise integrated school-running model, takes employment as the orientation, and aims to cultivate high-quality technical and skilled talents with "high professionalism, strong execution, fine technical skills, and good communication and learning". It has built a talent training model of "school-enterprise integration, engineering and learning as one", and attaches equal importance to technical skills and comprehensive quality, and established a professional talent training system with unique industry characteristics. The school gives full play to the function of higher vocational colleges in serving the society, builds a diversified social service model with on-the-job training as the main focus, vigorously carries out on-the-job training, online learning and technology research and development services, and is committed to building a lifelong education platform to serve the professional learning of on-the-job personnel, helping to enhance customer value. The training business courses are complete in categories and diverse in forms. The cooperative customers include government, enterprises and institutions, with more than 460 long-term cooperative customers, and the service training volume in 2022 will be 688,000 person-days. Since its establishment, the school has trained more than 100,000 graduates, cooperated with famous schools to train more than 7,000 on-the-job postgraduates, and provided more than 10 million person-days of social training, providing strong talent and intellectual support for social and economic development and industrial upgrading, and making irreplaceable contributions to the development of Guangdong's regional economy and social informatization.
