Guangdong University of Technology is a provincial key university with engineering as its main discipline, combining engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law and art, and developing in a coordinated manner across multiple disciplines. It is also a key university for the construction of Guangdong Province's high-level universities. It started undergraduate education in 1958 and was formed in 1995 by merging the former Guangdong Institute of Technology, Guangdong Institute of Mechanical Engineering and South China Institute of Construction (East Campus). The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024 ranked it 35th to 49th among mainland universities, and the Soft Science World University Academic Rankings 2023 ranked it 301st to 400th in the world. The school's headquarters is located in Guangzhou, a famous city in southern China. It has multiple campuses including University Town, Dongfeng Road, Longdong, Panyu, Shahe, Jieyang, etc. The campus covers a total area of more than 5,300 acres and has a beautiful environment. At present, the school has a total of 25 colleges, 2 public course teaching departments (centers), and 2 research institutes. Over the past 60 years, it has trained more than 500,000 professionals for the society. The employment rate of graduates has been among the top universities in Guangdong Province for many years. It has built an innovation and entrepreneurship education base of more than 25,000 square meters, the "Gongda Innovation Valley", which has been successfully selected as the first batch of national innovation and entrepreneurship education practice base construction units, and has become the only university in the province to win 9 national honors for innovation and entrepreneurship education.
