The school is a full-time public general college of higher learning approved by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government in 1985 and registered with the Ministry of Education. It is a department-level institution. At the beginning of its establishment, the college was named Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Cadre Continuing Education College, which mainly undertook the continuing education and training tasks of Guangdong Province's science and technology management cadres. It was praised by the Ministry of Science and Technology as "a pearl of local continuing education". In 1989, it was renamed Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Cadre College, and in 1996 it became one of the first colleges in Guangdong Province to hold general higher vocational education. In 2001, it cooperated with the Zhuhai Municipal Government to build the Zhuhai Campus. In 2003, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to be restructured from an adult college to a general college of higher learning, and continued to undertake the task of training science and technology cadres. In 2007, the school was transferred from the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology to the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education. In December 2008, the school passed the evaluation of the Ministry of Education's higher vocational and technical talent training work with "excellent" results. In 2010, it was awarded the honorary title of "Advanced Collective of Guangdong Provincial Vocational and Technical Education Work" by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government. In 2010, it was identified by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance as a national demonstration (key) higher vocational college project construction unit. In March 2016, it passed the acceptance with "good" results and became a national demonstration (key) higher vocational college. In July 2016, it was identified by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology as a provincial "Internet +" innovation and entrepreneurship demonstration school. In November 2016, it was identified by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education as a first-class higher vocational college project construction unit. In July 2019, it was identified by the Ministry of Education as a "National High-quality Junior College Higher Vocational College". In October 2019, it was identified by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance as a "Chinese Characteristic High-level Higher Vocational School and Professional Construction Plan Construction Unit". In 2022, it won the Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Award "Excellent School Award". In 2016, it was awarded the honorary title of "National Higher Vocational College Innovation and Entrepreneurship Demonstration School" by the Organizing Committee of the International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Expo. In 2016, 2017, and 2018, it was selected as the top 50 service contributions of higher vocational colleges in the country for three consecutive years. In 2018, it was selected as one of the top 50 teaching resources of higher vocational colleges in China. In 2019, it was selected as one of the top 50 educational effectiveness of higher vocational colleges in China. In 2021, it was selected as a "typical school of service contribution", "resource construction advantage school" and "excellent school of teacher development index" of higher vocational colleges in China. In 2022, it was selected as one of the top 50 universities in China for industry-education integration. In 2023, it was identified by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education as a provincial digital benchmark school for higher vocational education. The school currently has two campuses in Zhuhai and Guangzhou, with more than 26,000 full-time students. There are 17 secondary colleges including the School of Computer Engineering and Technology (School of Artificial Intelligence), Business School, School of Applied Foreign Languages, School of Tourism, School of Culture and Media, School of Robotics, School of Automotive Engineering, School of Civil Engineering, School of Art and Design, School of Accounting and Finance, School of Sports and Health, School of Internet of Things, School of Management Engineering, School of Marxism, School of International Cooperation, School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and School of Continuing Education; there are two scientific research institutions, Yunzhong Vocational Research Institute and Vocational Education Big Data Research Institute. The school offers 57 majors, including 1 high-level vocational college professional group with Chinese characteristics, 11 backbone majors of national high-quality schools, 5 key majors of national backbone vocational colleges, 2 majors supported by the Central Finance Department, 7 provincial high-level professional groups, 5 provincial demonstration majors, 6 provincial key majors, 5 provincial high-level majors, 3 first-class brand majors in Guangdong Province, 14 second-class brand majors, and 1 advantageous discipline in Zhuhai City. There is 1 national professional teaching resource library, 4 national high-quality resource sharing courses, 5 national high-quality courses, 6 national online high-quality courses, 2 national curriculum ideological and political demonstration courses, 5 provincial high-quality courses, 22 provincial high-quality resource sharing courses, 11 provincial high-quality online open courses, 11 provincial high-quality continuing education network courses, and 27 national and provincial teaching achievement awards. The school currently has more than 1,400 faculty and staff, including 87 senior professional titles, 321 associate senior professional titles, 144 doctoral degrees, 830 master's degrees, and the proportion of "double-qualified" full-time teachers of professional courses reaches 91%. The school has 1 national advanced collective in the education system, 2 national "dual-qualified" teacher training bases, 1 national skill master studio, 1 national teacher teaching innovation team, 2 national curriculum ideological and political teaching teachers and teams, 5 national outstanding teachers such as national teaching masters, national technical experts, and Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Award Outstanding Teachers. There are 17 provincial teaching team (base) projects such as provincial teaching teams and provincial "dual-qualified" teacher training bases, 61 provincial masters such as provincial special support plan teaching teachers, May 1st Labor Medal winners, Nanyue outstanding teachers, technical experts, high-level skilled part-time teachers, and 6 municipal talents such as Zhuhai City Distinguished Scholars and Technical Experts. The school has good school conditions and excellent teaching conditions. The campus covers an area of 2012 acres and a building area of 675,900 square meters. Teaching equipment 3.970,000 units (sets), with teaching and scientific research equipment valued at more than 309.49 million yuan. The library has a collection of more than 1.86 million books and nearly 60,000 GB of digital resources for electronic books. There are 128 multimedia classrooms and 20 smart classrooms. There are 459 on-campus experimental training rooms and 175 off-campus internship training bases. Two national-level productive training bases, one national-level skill master studio, one national-level applied talent training center, 13 provincial-level on-campus practical teaching bases, 10 provincial-level off-campus practical teaching bases for college students, 4 provincial-level public training centers, 1 provincial-level collaborative education platform, and 1 provincial-level skill master studio have been built. The school is a "national spark training base", "Guangdong Science and Technology Talent Base", "Guangdong Provincial Vocational College Teacher Continuing Education Base", and "Guangdong Provincial Professional and Technical Personnel Continuing Education Base" recognized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Education, and the Department of Personnel. The school took the lead in establishing a regional vocational education group jointly participated by government, schools, enterprises, and led by the government-Zhuhai Vocational Education Group, and established the school-enterprise cooperation council and the professional group construction guidance committee based on the vocational education group. The school plays the role of a bridge for vocational education groups and adopts a collaborative education model of school-enterprise integration of industry and education with "industry colleges" as the carrier. The school has established good cooperative relations with more than 630 enterprises such as Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., of which 24 have been approved by the Provincial Development and Reform Commission as industry-education integration enterprise cultivation units. The school has cooperated with enterprises to build 21 industrial colleges. Relying on the platform of the industrial college under construction, it has trained more than 6,300 urgently needed talents for enterprises from 2019 to 2022 through various methods such as project classes, order classes, and modern apprenticeships. Focusing on the school's development positioning of focusing on "Internet + technology characteristics", the school has become Guangdong Province's "Internet + Innovation and Entrepreneurship Demonstration School". The school deepens the reform of scientific research systems and mechanisms, and promotes the development of the school's scientific research and social service work by establishing a scientific research and social service mechanism with "landmark achievement library" as the result-oriented mechanism, and improving the cultivation mechanism of scientific research platforms and scientific research projects. The school has strengthened foreign exchanges and cooperation. In 2017, it obtained the qualifications to recruit international students and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. In 2018, it was awarded the "Advanced Collective for Foreign Exchange and Cooperation of Higher Education Institutions in Guangdong Province". In 2019, the Sino-French cooperative education project was officially registered by the Ministry of Education. In 2020, the British Council authorized the school to become an "approved IELTS institution". In 2022, it was approved as the first batch of pilot institutions for the Sino-German Advanced Vocational Education Cooperation Project. The school has a strong "import" of enrollment. It now recruits about 10,000 full-time students from 19 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions) across the country every year. All freshmen admitted by Guangdong Province are candidates who apply for our school as their first choice. The school actively explores the reform of education and teaching and enrollment systems, and carries out multi-form classified enrollment such as secondary and higher vocational connection, independent enrollment, modern apprenticeship system, and pilot enrollment for collaborative education of undergraduate and junior college students. Graduates have a smooth "export" for employment, and the overall employment rate is over 98%. In the past three years, students have won more than 600 awards in various professional skills competitions at all levels, including 5 international ones; more than 300 provincial and above skill competitions sponsored by government departments, including more than 20 national ones and more than 100 provincial first prizes. Won the championship of the mobile phone-controlled intelligent detection car project of the Asia-Pacific Information and Communication Grand Prix; won the championship of the FIRA Robot World Cup for three consecutive years; and won the silver medal in the "Web Technology" event of the 2022 BRICS Vocational Skills Competition. In the 2022 National Vocational School Skills Competition, the "Mobile Application Development" and "Software Testing" events won the first prize in the national competition, the "E-commerce Skills", "Architectural Decoration Technology Application" and "Robotic System Integration" events won the second prize in the national competition, and the "Mold Digital Design and Manufacturing Process" and "Intelligent Finance and Taxation" won the third prize in the national competition. The winning rate of the competition reached 100%, and the total number of awards and the quality of the awards reached a historical high. In 2022, our school won 82 awards in the Guangdong Vocational School Student Professional Skills Competition, ranking among the top in the province for three consecutive years. A large number of outstanding graduates have stood out, made outstanding achievements in various industries, and have been widely praised by the society. For example, Nie Yunchen, a graduate of the Class of 2011, founded the Heytea brand and was included in the Forbes 2018 China Under 30 Elite List; Zhu Rong, a graduate of the Class of 2012, founded Zhuhai Jingtian Century Technology Co., Ltd., which was rated as an enterprise with outstanding contributions to the 40th anniversary of the domestic consumables industry by the Zhuhai Consumables Industry Association; Lin Zhongjian, a graduate of the Class of 2018, is the only person in Guangdong Province selected as a national typical figure in college students' employment and entrepreneurship; Hu Zhiwen, a graduate of the Class of 2019, is the only person in Guangdong Province to win the national "Jinpai Sunshine Scholarship" special award and "Advanced Individual in Practicing Craftsman Spirit"; Wu Jianhong, a graduate of the Class of 2021, won the "China College Student Self-improvement Star"; Huo Shitong, a graduate of the Class of 2021, founded an intelligent pharmaceutical traceability platform, won a new invention patent, two software copyrights, one national award and seven provincial awards. The school adheres to the school motto of "virtue, high energy, truth-seeking and innovation", insists on the school-running idea of "quality-based school, characteristic-based school, innovation-based school", based on "innovation nature, Bay Area basic color, digital background, scientific and technological characteristics", and through the construction of the "Double High Plan", it is working tirelessly to accelerate the construction of high-level vocational colleges and undergraduate-level vocational schools with Chinese characteristics that are rooted in China and serve the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone.
