Guangxi Arts Institute is located in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is one of the eight comprehensive undergraduate art colleges in my country. It is now a university jointly established by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, an excellent university in the undergraduate teaching evaluation of the Ministry of Education, a university with distinctive advantages in Guangxi, a university approved for the construction of a doctoral unit in Guangxi, and a university in the basic capacity construction project of universities in the central and western regions of the country. The predecessor of the school was the "Guangxi Provincial Capital National Basic School Art Teacher Training Class" initiated by Mr. Man Qianzi, a famous musician in China, Mr. Xu Beihong, an outstanding modern painter and art educator, and Mr. Wu Bochao, a famous composer and music educator, in 1938. In the history of more than 80 years of schooling, a group of well-known artists and art educators at home and abroad, such as Man Qianzi, Xu Beihong, Wu Bochao, Yang Taiyang, Chen Yanqiao, Chen Liang, Huang Dufeng, Zhu Peijun, Lu Huabai, and Li Zhishu, have worked in the school for a long time. They taught and studied, promoted literature and education, laid a good foundation for the development of the school, and accumulated a profound cultural heritage. The school currently has three campuses, namely Nanhu Campus, Xiangsihu Campus and Guilin Campus in Nanning City, with a total area of 611.02 acres. The school has 16 teaching units including the Conservatory of Music, the Conservatory of Music Education, the Conservatory of Fine Arts, the Conservatory of Fine Arts Education, the Conservatory of Design, the Chinese Painting Academy/Lijiang Painting School, the Dance Academy/Affiliated Secondary Art School, the Humanities College, the Film and Television and Media College, the Vocational and Technical College, the School of Architecture and Art, the School of Plastic Arts, the School of General Education, the School of Marxism, the International Education Exchange Center, the School of Continuing Education/Training Center, and 1 Art Research Institute. The school currently has three first-level master's degree authorization points in art, design, and journalism and communication, 7 master's professional degree authorization points in fine arts and calligraphy, music, design, dance, drama and film and television, landscape architecture, and journalism and communication, and 40 undergraduate majors, forming a relatively complete higher art education system. It has 2 first-class disciplines in Guangxi, 10 national first-class undergraduate professional construction points, 4 first-class undergraduate professional construction points in Guangxi, 7 national first-class undergraduate courses, and 32 autonomous region-level first-class undergraduate courses. In the fourth round of subject evaluation by the State Council, the first-level subject of Fine Arts of our school was rated as B+, the two first-level subjects of Music and Dance and Design were rated as B, and the first-level subject of Art Theory was rated as C+. Fine Arts and Music and Dance are first-class subjects in Guangxi; new breakthroughs were made in the fifth round of subject evaluation, and Fine Arts achieved the goal of upgrading. In the 2023 Soft Science China University Professional Rankings, our school won 1 A+ and 6 A. The school recruits students from all over the country, and currently has more than 14,000 full-time students and more than 1,300 faculty and staff. The school adheres to the school-running philosophy of "rooted in the local, diversified integration, inheritance and innovation, and serving the society", takes the "Double First-Class" construction as the guide, takes the road of characteristic development and connotation development, comprehensively promotes education and teaching reform and comprehensive reform of talent training, continuously improves the quality of talent training, and continuously improves the enrollment and employment situation. In the past five years, the school has won 2 second prizes in the National Teaching Achievement Award for Higher Education (Undergraduate), 3 special prizes in the Autonomous Region Teaching Achievement Award, 17 first prizes, 16 second prizes, and 5 third prizes; 1 "New Engineering" Research and Practice Project of the Ministry of Education, 2 "New Liberal Arts" Research and Reform Practice Projects of the Ministry of Education; 1 Industry-University Cooperation and Collaborative Education Project of the Ministry of Education; The school's "Smart Human Settlement Environment Industry College" was approved as a model modern industry college of Guangxi general undergraduate colleges. The school adheres to the people-centered creation orientation, advocates teachers and students to go deep into life and take root in the people to carry out artistic creation, and deeply promotes the creation of the "three-step" series. It has successfully launched the art works of Chinese painting 100-meter long scroll "Bagui Poverty Alleviation Map", "Bagui Centennial Journey Map", "Bagui Magnificent Splendid Map" and music and dance works "Brother Ba" and "Silk Road Voyage", which have been widely praised. In the past five years, the school has obtained 87 scientific research projects at the provincial and ministerial levels and above, and more than 700 other scientific research and creation projects, including 32 national scientific research and creation projects and more than 90 patents. The school's teachers have published hundreds of academic works, and on average, hundreds of academic papers have been published in domestic core authoritative journals every year. Many consulting reports have been approved by the leaders of the autonomous region. Teachers and students have won a large number of awards in various professional performances and competitions at all levels, such as the "Golden Bell Award", "Wenhua Award", "Peacock Award", "Taoli Cup", "Lotus Award", etc. 46 works were selected for the 13th National Art Exhibition, and 17 Guangxi Social Science Outstanding Achievement Awards and 12 Guangxi Literature and Art Creation Bronze Drum Awards. The "Lijiang School of Painting", with the school's art teachers as the main body, has developed into a cultural brand that has gone global, and has made important contributions to expanding Guangxi's influence and visibility. The Guangxi National Music Museum, located in the school, has become an important platform for displaying Guangxi's national music culture and Southeast Asian music culture. It currently has more than 1,600 pieces (sets) of collections, and its Southeast Asian musical instrument collection ranks first in the country. It has been certified as the first batch of Guangxi popular science education bases during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, and has been promoted by the CCTV News Client of the Central Radio and Television Station and other media. The school was approved to establish the Guangxi School Aesthetic Education Research and Development Center, which has become a think tank to promote the reform and development of aesthetic education teaching in Guangxi schools. The journal Art Exploration is a source journal of the extended version of the Chinese Social Science Citation Index (CSSCI). The school's achievements have been reported many times by mainstream news media such as Guangming Daily, People's Daily, and Guangxi Daily. The school has carried out educational cooperation and exchanges with more than 60 foreign institutions and national art groups in 21 countries and regions. The "China-ASEAN Music Week", "China-ASEAN Architectural Space Design Education Summit Forum", "China-ASEAN Dance Education Forum" and "China-ASEAN Art Works Biennale" held by the school have a certain international influence. In 2012, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs established the "China-ASEAN Art Talent Training Center" in our school to train high-end art talents for ASEAN countries. In 2017, our school, the China-ASEAN Center, and the Regional Center for Higher Education and Development of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization jointly initiated the establishment of the "China-ASEAN Art College Alliance" to promote regional cultural, artistic and educational exchanges, actively serve the construction of a closer China-ASEAN community of shared future, promote cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, and promote people-to-people exchanges.
