Guangxi University of Finance and Economics is a general undergraduate university of finance and economics that is a key project of the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The school's history can be traced back to the Guangxi Commercial College founded in 1960 (renamed Guangxi Commercial School in September 1962) and the Guangxi School of Finance and Economics established in 1963. In 2004, it was formed by the merger of Guangxi Finance College and Guangxi Commercial College. The school currently has three campuses: Xiangsihu Campus, Mingxiu Campus and Wuming Campus, covering an area of 1,281,627.09 square meters. The school has 15 teaching colleges and 59 undergraduate majors. In 2021, the school became a master's degree-granting institution, and currently has four master's professional degree authorization points in accounting, finance, taxation, and auditing. There are 24,139 full-time students and 1,671 faculty members, including 1,271 full-time teachers: 356 teachers with doctoral degrees, accounting for 28.01%; 747 teachers with master's degrees, accounting for 58.77%; 1,103 teachers with master's degrees or above, accounting for 86.78%; 166 teachers with senior professional titles, and 427 teachers with associate senior professional titles. It has a group of high-level talents with the leading talents of philosophy and social sciences in the national "Ten Thousand Talents Plan", national cultural celebrities and "four batches" talents, national candidates of the "New Century Hundred Thousand Talents Project", candidates of the "New Century Excellent Talents Support Plan" of the Ministry of Education, experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, second-level professors, autonomous region-level teaching teams and autonomous region-level teaching masters as the core. In recent years, the school has vigorously adjusted and optimized the discipline layout structure, forming a high-level discipline system with a reasonable layout, outstanding advantages and distinctive characteristics that deeply matches the regional economic and social development. Applied economics and statistics have been approved as a new round of Guangxi first-class discipline construction projects. There are 2 key laboratories of the autonomous region, 4 think tanks at the autonomous region level, 3 key laboratories of Guangxi universities, and 4 key research bases in humanities and social sciences. From 2018 to date, the school has won 88 national scientific research projects and 292 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects. Among them, it has won 1 major project, 1 major project, and 1 key project of the National Social Science Fund. The number of national social science fund projects ranks among the top universities in the region. The school adheres to the fundamental task of cultivating people with morality, and the quality of talent training is continuously improved. There are 6 national first-class undergraduate professional construction sites, 14 autonomous region first-class undergraduate professional construction sites, 7 national first-class undergraduate courses, and 31 autonomous region first-class undergraduate courses. The China-ASEAN Digital Economy College and the Digital Finance and Accounting Industry College have been approved as exemplary modern industrial colleges of ordinary undergraduate colleges in Guangxi. In recent years, the school has won 1 national teaching achievement award and 48 autonomous region teaching achievement awards, and students have won more than 740 professional discipline competition awards at or above the autonomous region level.
