Guangxi Water Resources and Electric Power Vocational and Technical College is located in Nanning, China's Green City, a national civilized city, and the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is an innovative higher vocational school with engineering as its main focus, water as its specialty, and distinctive hydropower characteristics. The school was founded in 1956 and was formerly known as Nanning Water Resources School. In 1970, it was renamed Guangxi Water Resources and Electric Power School. In 2002, it was upgraded to Guangxi Water Resources and Electric Power Vocational and Technical College. The school has won the titles of National Demonstration (Backbone) Higher Vocational Colleges, National High-quality Water Conservancy Higher Vocational Colleges, National Water Conservancy Higher Vocational Education Demonstration Colleges, Guangxi's New Round of High-level Higher Vocational Schools and Professional Construction Class A Schools, and Autonomous Region Vocational Education "Three-All Education" Typical Schools, and enjoys the reputation of "Guangxi Hydropower Huangpu Military Academy" and "Cradle of Hydropower Talents". The school has 11 secondary colleges, 56 junior college majors, 5 jointly run undergraduate majors, covering eight major professional groups such as water conservancy and hydropower construction engineering professional groups and power system automation technology professional groups, with more than 23,200 full-time students. It has 4 national key majors and 3 national backbone majors, 2 national productive training bases and 13 autonomous region-level vocational education demonstration training bases. It presided over the construction of 3 national online boutique courses and 1 national ideological and political demonstration course; 4 autonomous region professional teaching resource libraries, 5 boutique courses, and 18 ideological and political demonstration courses; 2 textbooks won the second prize of the first National Textbook Construction Award, and 6 textbooks were selected as the first batch of "14th Five-Year Plan" vocational education national planning textbooks. In the past three years, the school has won 2 second prizes in the national teaching achievement award and 7 first prizes in the autonomous region teaching achievement award; teachers have won 11 national awards and 24 first prizes in the autonomous region in the teaching ability competition. The total number of awards in 2022 ranked first among higher vocational colleges in the country. The school has a strong faculty, with more than 1,500 full-time and part-time teachers, led by experts with special allowances from the State Council, ministerial-level scientific and technological talents, national water conservancy vocational teachers, national curriculum ideological and political teaching teachers, Guangxi outstanding scholars and Guangxi technical experts, Guangxi water conservancy chief scientists, and Guangxi TRIZ innovation method chief experts. The high-level teacher team composed of "famous masters + famous teachers + famous craftsmen" has formed a full-time and part-time combination, a reasonable structure, and a double-teacher team with strong teaching and scientific research capabilities. The school covers a total area of about 1,145.37 acres and is divided into three campuses: Changqi, Lijian, and Dashatin, with a total construction area of 404,363 square meters. The school has always taken school-enterprise cooperation and production-education integration as the main channel for running schools. We have established a national exemplary vocational education group, Guangxi Water Conservancy and Electric Power Vocational Education Group, with more than 500 leading domestic and foreign enterprises such as China Energy Engineering Group and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., and have carried out cooperation in many aspects such as "talent training, technical cooperation, base co-construction, and employee training". We have jointly built two pilot majors of the Ministry of Education's modern apprenticeship system, 36 national 1+X certificate system pilots, and three autonomous region-level exemplary industrial colleges such as Bagui Water Conservancy and Baiyue Electric Power. The school actively serves the rapid development of the water conservancy and power industry. In the past five years, it has carried out 120,000 employee trainings in rural drinking water, water-saving irrigation, etc. for the water conservancy and power industry, forming a strong influence in the industry. The school has been recognized by the Ministry of Water Resources as the only water conservancy talent training base in Guangxi ethnic minority areas in the country.
