Guangzhou City Vocational College is a Guangdong model higher vocational college approved by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government in March 2005 and registered by the Ministry of Education of China. It was organized by the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government. In September this year, it was identified as a high-level higher vocational college construction unit in Guangdong Province. In May 2009, the Guangzhou Municipal Government approved the school to add the "Guangzhou Community College" sign. The school's philosophy is: "Quality-based school, talent-based school, culture-based school, and characteristic-based school". The school's positioning is: based in Guangzhou, facing the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and serving urban development; taking higher vocational education as the main body, vigorously carrying out vocational training and community education; taking junior college vocational education as the basis, actively expanding undergraduate education; taking moral education as the fundamental, following the laws of vocational education, and striving to build the school into a high-quality technical and skilled talent training base that highlights the characteristics of urban construction and urban service education, a technology innovation service platform, a community education and service demonstration center, and a Lingnan cultural heritage base. By 2025, it will be built into a distinctive, first-class, and nationally renowned high-level higher vocational college, laying a solid foundation for the establishment of Guangzhou City University. The school's history can be traced back to 1962. Over the past 60 years, it has trained more than 300,000 talents for all walks of life and has been widely praised by the society. In December 2009, the school passed the talent training work evaluation of the Ministry of Education with excellent results; in April 2020, it was identified as a model higher vocational college in Guangdong Province. The school is located in Guangzhou, an important national central city. It currently has 7 campuses: Guangzhou Science and Education City, Guangyuan South, Guangyuan North, Haizhu, Binjiang, Yuexiu, and Huadu. The main campuses, Guangyuan South and Guangyuan North, are located at the foot of the scenic Baiyun Mountain and the bank of Luhu Lake; the new campus of Guangzhou Science and Education City will be put into operation in September 2023.
