Guangzhou Health Vocational and Technical College is a public health vocational college organized by the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government. Its history can be traced back to 1902. It is a century-old famous school and the cradle of modern medical care. In the long history of running schools, the college has taken moral education as its fundamental task, trained tens of thousands of high-quality health technical talents for the society, and made important contributions to the development of medical and health care. The college covers an area of 683 acres (including non-property area of about 25 acres) and is divided into four campuses: Baiyun, Conghua, Tianhe, and Yuexiu. The college has a strong faculty and currently has more than 8,000 students of various types (including more than 900 students in higher vocational colleges). There are 23 majors in nursing, midwifery, smart health care services and management, infant and child care services and management, modern housekeeping services and management, pharmacy, Chinese medicine, Chinese medicine, medical inspection technology, health inspection and quarantine technology, clinical medicine, preventive medicine, health big data management and services, health management, medical imaging technology, optometry technology, stomatology, stomatology technology, rehabilitation therapy technology, Chinese medicine rehabilitation technology, medical cosmetology technology, acupuncture and massage, and Chinese medicine health care. Among them, clinical medicine, preventive medicine, stomatology, and acupuncture and massage are state-controlled majors. The college has one non-affiliated affiliated hospital and several teaching hospitals, and has built nine training bases for nursing, pharmacy, inspection, stomatology, clinical, rehabilitation and health care, public foundation, basic medicine, and innovation and entrepreneurship. Students have high skills and have won many awards in various competitions at the national, provincial, and municipal levels. The pass rate of various professional qualification examinations and the employment rate of graduates are among the best in similar domestic colleges and universities. In its long history of running schools, the college has taken it as its mission to cultivate talents serving life and health, and has dared to take responsibility in major public health events and made outstanding contributions. In 1927, Wang Dexin, a teacher at the Duanna Nursing School, and Han Rixiu, a graduate, risked their lives to escort Comrade Deng Yingchao out of danger. In 2003, the school performed outstandingly in the fight against SARS and was named a commended unit for fighting SARS in Guangdong Province and an advanced unit for fighting SARS in Guangzhou City; one nursing class was awarded the title of National Advanced Collective by the Ministry of Education and the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League; and seven teachers and students were awarded the title of advanced individuals in the fight against SARS in the province and city. In 2020, the college dared to take responsibility and make contributions in epidemic prevention and control, and its work received the attention of Academician Zhong Nanshan, who called our college "the backbone of China's health cause." The college was named an advanced collective in the fight against the epidemic in Guangdong Province, and the "Haizhu District Community Epidemic Prevention and Control Party Member Commando" was named a pioneer post of Communist Party members "struggling on the front line of epidemic prevention and control" by the Guangzhou Municipal Direct Agencies in 2020. The college is the first batch of pilot colleges of the Ministry of Education's "1+X Certificate System" Elderly Care Certificate Project, the International Nursing Practice Level Examination (ISPN) test site, the National Vocational Qualification Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry Special Occupational Skills Appraisal Base, the National Health Commission Health Industry National Vocational Qualification Training and Appraisal Pilot College, the Ministry of Education's National Medical English Level Test (METS) Training Site and Designated Examination Site, Guangdong Province College Entrance Examination "3+X" Vocational and Technical Education Professional Skills "Basics of Biotechnology" and "Nursing Skills" Test Site, Guangzhou Health Nursing Professional Continuing Education Base, etc.; the college is one of the 13 Guangzhou Vocational Skills Level Certification Social Training Evaluation Organizations and Guangzhou City's "Leader" Action to Promote the Quality and Expansion of the Domestic Service Industry "Leader" School, providing due services for local economic and social development. The college has established good cooperative relations with overseas institutions such as the United States, Singapore, Finland, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, carried out scientific research cooperation, teacher training, and built overseas internships, further studies and employment platforms, providing broad space for students' development.
